United Kingdom The Butterfly Effect 14/09/20009

Just stumbled accross the trilogy at HMV and am wanting to buy it purely for the first movie (I've not even seen the 3rd but the second was dire) but I dont want to shell out for it, if it's the directors cut (which was the only version released on DVD in the UK - I had to import from USA to get the original theatrical version, which I prefer)

just wondered if anyone had any info about the disc as I cant find anything about the versions, extras (if any) etc

thanks in advance

I have see this has been released and some stores are shipping it for under 20 euro

from what I have read it is a 2 disk set

with the first 2 movies being on disk 1 and the third on disk 2

no subs on disk 1

I gather that they will be no xtras on these disks.

Any updates on this Blu-ray set? How is the picture quality and by chance is it region-free?

I own it and think the PQ is actually quite good. The first film looks the best, with the third ranking second for me in terms of AQ and PQ not to mention the film and the second ranking last for me.

Each of the films essentially has 25GB of disc space, with the first two on a BD-50 and the third on a BD-25. PQ is good across the board, and considering the second and third are DTV they are not too bad. One thing to note is that the original is the US theatrical cut, NOT the DC. Personally I prefer the DC much more.

I can't speak for the region of the discs, but if someone else can confirm that...

i am wondering the region too. I want to get the DC edition of the first movie from Canada. However, I think that is only region A so wouldn't work for those of you in the UK. But, I really want this set from the UK.

I have all 3 movies on DVD and I love the first film though many people disliked it. The other films are what they are: cheesy, silly and continuations mainly by title only. Still interesting to watch them however, and I admit to actually enjoying them. I gues, one of those 'it is so bad it is good' kind of things.

Can you give any info about the audio? Is it lossless? Since you have it, it might say either on the case itself or when you go into the audio menu.. I really wish we could get this trilogy in the US, but I am more than willing to import if necessary: so long as it is region free.

Each has DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1. I will have to recheck the discs though as one (or several) of the films may be 1080i50. I will double check.

Any-DVD detects the 1st disc as region free. not tried the second yet. I'm not getting any judder with 24p in the first film playback but i haven't had chance to check the others weather it's actually 1080p or 1080i.

All the Discs are region free. but the film select menu on the first disc is 1080i50 too so the first disc is a no go for players that fall over on 1080i50. Also there isn't any subtitles on the first disc. Also the 1080i uses MBAFF so technically 1080p25.
