Hi Interdimensional,

Kanab, Utah and it's surroundings is used by Hollywood for location shooting quite often. We were there, saw storage lots housing numerous facade only structures and many distinctive landscapes, some of which I now immediately recognize. It was fun being there.

ah yes, that obsessive mania for those desert-bound beasts of burden, in the days before Beatlemania and other mass-infatuations gripped the nation!

Promotion must surely have been asleep at the wheel to have missed such a trick.

"If you only see one 3-D Camel movie next year, make it Southwest Passage!"

I'm always curious about sets and locations, but at the same time wary about how such knowledge may affect the film-viewing experience. In a film like this I want to believe they're in the middle of dangerous and untamed wilderness that stretches almost endlessly. I don't know how it might feel to recognise and know that such an outcrop of rocks is just across the way from the most mundane aspects of civilization. Although there's a kind of magic in how a film can stitch together a string of locations that may not necessarily be in close proximity that can only be fully appreciated with that kind of familiarity.

Watching a stream of SOUTHWEST PASSAGE on Screenplex at 1:37 to 1. IMDB says the intended ratio is 1:66 to 1. Bob where do we stand?

Maybe Bob can provide more relevant details, but Southwest Passage was intended for 1.66:1, according to 3DFA's old website.

That’s what I thought. When TCM broadcast it it was 1:66 to 1.

I wouldn't expect a disc for a while, this was the last update:

In the restoration timeline, while Bwana Devil was nearing completion, Frankensteins Bloody Terror became the next priority title from MGM so those scans were moved ahead of Southwest Passage.

We hope to get the SP scans shortly once we deliver FBT to Kino…
