Default Anyone know how to remove a thin scratch on the screen?

I have this very thin scratch on the plasma screen & I was wondering if there anything available that may assist in the removal of this scratch?
Your help is apreciated, thanks

Doubtful. Your actual screen is glass, which won't scratch without a great deal of effort. You probably scratched the anti-glare coating, which can't be fixed as far as I know.

There's been several of these threads over the years, and I don't recall seeing any good fixes.

You can try this stuff called Displex which is supposed to work pretty well. Some people also use vaseline, pencil erasers and shaving cream, etc., but I'm not too sure I would want to experiment with that stuff. Try the Displex....but test it on some old plastic first

If it is an indented scratch you cannot remove. If it is a superficial marking you may remove it. If this is the case, try a light detergent and remove the detergent straight after with water.

I'd recommend keeping your hands and other objects including people away from your screen and live with the scratch. Don't take a chance and do or put anything on your screen that will really make it go from bad to worse and maybe to WTF! Trust me, suck it up and live with it. If you do anything that cause not only the scratch to get worse or discoloration or makes it even more noticable you will regret it.

Hey, as long as the tv works, live with it and keep everything and everybody away from it. By the way, how did you get the scratch on the screen in the first place?

Thought I was having trouble with TV (Glitch) so I contacted PANASONIC & they sent out a technician, when he turned the screen around to get to the back the guy some how scratched it cause he was wearing jewellery & had he's hands on the screen, thing is only noticed it when I was wiping down the palm & finger-prints after he had left, man did it make me upset!!!!
To top it off there was nothing wromg with the TV in the first place, this only happened last week don't know If I should ring Panasonic up & tell them!
What do you think?

I get your point, I already got a free Blu Ray player from them & on top of that also got my Panasonic recorder exchanged for a new one thinking that was causing the glitch pushing now for a third item well you never know I'll give it a shot third time lucky ???
Im not the sort of person that makes such a big deal about things

My advice is from past experience. Leave the scratch alone. If you start messing with it, you will make things worse.

Yeah i would leave the scratche alone BUTTTTTTTTTTT, i'd make that freakin tech FIX it by putting a NEW screen at HIS expense. It's the techs fault so why should he be so relaxed about it. Money doesn't grow on trees u know, so for him to have to pay good money to let that tech come and scratch it?? OH HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL NOOOOOOOO!!! It would be ON with me. Last year b4 i sold my xbr4, i had a tech come in and replace a bezel i had on my sammy cause when i bought it, the bezel was a bit damaged (samsung had said some bezels came damaged), so 2 techs came to change it. I was allllllllllllllllll on top of them watching them and telling them if they mess up my tv or scratch it in ANY way, they are buying me a new one, not fixing it. They were SUPER carefull. When i saw they didn't mess it up and did a good job. I tipped them 30 bucks EACHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. I rewarded their good work. It goes both ways. But if even the slightest scratch was on it, they would have gotten fistacuffs cause i don't play that. U know whats that to spend hard earned money for nothing? It's a PLASMA he has, or an LCD i had, it's not a toy or a little b/s etch in schetch. If it cost nothing or very little than i would not blow up that quick but a tv? OH HELLLLLLLLL NO!! That's ur tvvvvvvvvvvvvv man.

That's why I don't really want to touch it plus it's a very thin & not a deep scratch, I have complained to them about it (gee im getting very popular with Panasonic) & I intend on giving them a call tomorrow as well, im sure in the end everything will be resolved so I'll keep you guys up-dated
Like I said I don't make a big deal out of things like some people do Life is too short to be holding grudges or getting so upset about simple stuff!
Plus I already got a free DVD Blu Ray Player out of them & they also Replaced my Blu Ray recorder for a new one, so that was very good of them

Yes please follow this up. If you believe the tech did it, they should fix it. Don't try to fix it yourself which may cause further damage and Panasonic might say that it is your problem.

I agree with the other posters who say leave the scratch alone unless it is just a surface blemish. I would get a flashlight and shine it on the screen to see the extent of the damage. Sometimes on my Kuro I see what looks like a scratch or a discoloration. I get an old t-shirt and moisten part of it with water and dab at the affected area; then I gently wipe the screen with the dry part of the t-shirt. What looked serious was nothing at all.

I don't know what it is with these techs. I had one come to my house for a question and he wanted to touch the screen. I told him not to touch the screen. My rule with my set is that it is never touched. I just don't like outside techs coming in as they don't respect your property.

I do not believe the manufacturer will replace the screen for a small scratch.

Do you notice it when the TV is on? I know I have had a blemish from day one but you can't notice it with the TV on or when it's off. The way I found it was with a flashlight shinning on the screen, man I'm anal like the previous poster said I wouldn't mess with it.

So here's an update, got in touch with AWA & Panasonic and made an official complaint about the scratch on the TV so last week they came & took the screen away and they ring up last night (afternoon) & tell me they are going to replace the screen so that was good news & problem solved
