Default Technicolor is shutting down

Big news - Technicolor is shutting down, leaving some big summer movies scrambling to get their VFX finished in time.

I really hope they won't use AI to finish the VFX work.

But if they have to choose between using AI and postponing the movie - maybe to next year - what should they do??

There's no shortage of FX facilities companies to take up the load (& it’s not unusable for a studio to use several FX companies for a film, & for a FX House to subcontract out some of the work), I don’t think this will cause any problems or holdups. The three film laboratories that I worked in (UK) from the sixties to the nineties closed down many years ago (I did do some freelance work at Technicolor UK as a telecine colourist around 2005).
