So will Shout! be releasing their own UHD or will I have to import?

They just released those Jackie Chan collections barely two years ago. I don't see them releasing any of those movies on 4K anytime soon, but you never know. I was going to pick them up, but I've been buying the 88 Films 4K versions of some of those movies as they release them. I figure by the time Shout does do it, 88 will have released a collections worth by then.

On their Facebook official page, they also only mention the second film.

Well, last time they released the Armour of God movies on blu ray, they also started with the second one first. Not sure why but I guess they are going for the same strategy this time too?

Well aware of that… these are just Q2 releases. Doesn’t mean the first movie isn’t on the cards.

they had to wait for Mediumrares rights to expire before they could release the first one.

With the Shaw 4K floodgates opening I'm glad I avoided those giant Shout sets. They always seemed like quick cash grabs before 4K.

I wonder if it'll be the same case for the Arrow Shawscope boxsets (or maybe it's just me trying to cope with the fact that I missed those...).

But, jokes aside, by now I strongly believe every blu-ray of this stuff is a bet. You never know what might be coming out in a couple of years.

Sure, there's still a lot of stuff that's missing, and I think most of that will still be released on 1080p for now, but those rights' prices skyrocketed in the last few years given the reborn interest in Hong Kong cinema and its success in home video.
So I'm fairly confident they'll make us rebuy everything

It's also a license thing. Arrow just put out the last boxset, and has another coming. 12-14 films in each, that's a lot of expense if they were put them out for 4K. I don't see it. 88 Films doesn't have access to those films in either region, and Shout doesn't seem interested in releasing them on 4K either in the US.

I think only the big guns would be 4K viable, the ones most well known. This is one of them. 8 Diagram Pole Fighter, One-Armed Swordsman (which just had a release), 36th Chamber of Shaolin, Five Deadly Venoms. Those I could see a 4K release, and maybe the odd Horror or off the wall film from Vinegar Syndrome. The rest of the catalogue? I'm not sure. It would be expensive to shit out a 4K boxset for these films, and clearly, the labels like Arrow and Shout don't see it viable to release most of them standalone as it is.

Could be an available materials thing, too. The 4K restoration of Operation Condor was shown at Cannes last year, but I’m not sure there’s one for Armour of God yet.

But it will come, I’m sure…

This and Come Drink With Me 4K would be Day 1 buys for me, and I'm just happy to own them on Blu-Ray, BUUUUT Arrow has their announcements tomorrow and I'm interested to see if they release any HK/Taiwanese Actioners. That and the inevitable Severin Game of Clones Volume 2 and Shout Golden Princess Volume 1 Boxsets sometime this year.

If not, who knows. Come Drink With Me was never my favorite Cheng Pei-pei nor King Hu movies, but it's still a great movie and Armour of God II (Operation Condor) is without a doubt one of my Top 5 favorite Jackie Chan movies, AND it's getting the deluxe treatment?

I'm interested to say the least.

Because it's both a lot better and a lot more well known in the west than the first. It also has a massive scale and grand visuals that will shine on 4K.

People must have missed the fact that 88 Films released Armour of God II on Blu ray before Armour of God... seems obvious what they are doing here. I have Armour of God on Blu and don't need an upgrade on that anyway since it's a fantastic release. Operation Condor is a welcome upgrade because the 88 Blu is hard locked against working on Panny via top menu trick.

So stop buying them? Quite a long complaining rant over something so simple as imports being expensive. Welcome to life?

I... already said I won't be buying them at this price (even thought I'd love to support 88 films) but thanks for being so condescending?

Operation Condor was one of the few classic Jackies that Hong Kong Legends didn't release on DVD back in the day...EIV still had the rights and their DVD was non-anamorphic and English only! The film also followed Enter the Dragon as part of BBC2's Kung Fu Night in 2001.

Confirmed to be a 4 disc set

2 UHD + 2 BD I’d imagine.
