United Kingdom Shatter 4K UHD (Hammer Films)

I hope I’m not putting two and two together to make five but Hammer has posted this and teased that all will be revealed in an announcement this Friday.

My assumption is that it’ll be a 4K UHD. Hope so.

It’s an atypical Hammer film, but one I’ve always wanted to see and should have crossover appeal with Shaw Bros/Hong Kong action fans.

Yeah this is pretty much a foregone conclusion. In their most recent newsletter, Hammer not only offered a preview clip of the new SHATTER restoration, but also T-shirts for DRACULA, THE MUMMY, and FRANKENSTEIN AND THE MONSTER FROM HELL. Let's hope these are clues about possible upcoming releases, because it's high time we got a CLASSIC.

I've got the Shout! blu but will upgrade if it's UHD.

So deleted scenes… I wonder if they’ve done an extended cut?

I’m
Guessing they’re doing multiple ratios and cuts to up the price.

It will be a UHD, although I'm sure they'll include a BD as well.

Did Hellman complete a cut of this before he was fired? Maybe they could include that as an extra.

No, he was fired less than two weeks into the shoot.

That Kubrick had to expressly write to projectionists in the UK in the mid 1970s to show Barry Lyndon at 1.66:1 ideally or 1.75 at most tells you that 1.66:1 was already largely superseded by 1.75 and increasingly 1.85.

I’ve looked at the 1.85:1 US disc it looks fine but my instinct tells me 1.75 would be spot on.

On Kronos the 1.85:1 looked perfect with the 1.66 rather loose, let alone the 1.37:1!

No matter how many times this is discussed, there’s a group of people who always default back to 1.66 being right for British movies across the board.

There's a choice of watching the uk theatrical version in 1:66:1 or the us theatrical version in 1:85:1. Both the same run time . i watched the 1:85:1 version.
