I hope I’m not putting two and two together to make five but Hammer has posted this and teased that all will be revealed in an announcement this Friday.
My assumption is that it’ll be a 4K UHD. Hope so. It’s an atypical Hammer film, but one I’ve always wanted to see and should have crossover appeal with Shaw Bros/Hong Kong action fans. Last edited by BigNickUK; 03-22-2025 at 10:30 AM. |

So deleted scenes… I wonder if they’ve done an extended cut?
I’m Guessing they’re doing multiple ratios and cuts to up the price. ![]() |

Did Hellman complete a cut of this before he was fired? Maybe they could include that as an extra.

That Kubrick had to expressly write to projectionists in the UK in the mid 1970s to show Barry Lyndon at 1.66:1 ideally or 1.75 at most tells you that 1.66:1 was already largely superseded by 1.75 and increasingly 1.85.
I’ve looked at the 1.85:1 US disc it looks fine but my instinct tells me 1.75 would be spot on. On Kronos the 1.85:1 looked perfect with the 1.66 rather loose, let alone the 1.37:1! No matter how many times this is discussed, there’s a group of people who always default back to 1.66 being right for British movies across the board.
