don't know about that number (or why OOP from china).

but US had what was called a "de minimis" trade exemption that was removed with the extra 10% added
https://www.wgbh.org/news/internatio...ion-what-is-it

basically the 2 cents version is that US law said if the total was under 800$ of goods from China tariffs would not be applied. The US has some huge tariffs on some goods from China and many people got nasty surprises when that changed and the delivery person handed them that large bill.

It's my understanding that the elimination of de minimis on Chinese imports has been paused until they can figure out a way to assess & collect the tariffs on small packages that doesn't require massive staff increases at U.S. Customs & Border Protection, USPS, UPS, FedEx, DHL, private customs brokers (the source of huge fees on non-USPS imports that often exceed actual tariffs, like on UPS shipments to Canada), etc., etc. That may never happen, because the whole reason why the exemption exists is to avoid massive staffing needs to collect minor tariffs, especially since the U.S. does NOT collect sales tax (VAT, GST, etc.) at the border like almost every other industrialized country does.

I have a lot of Blu Ray to sell because of all the UHD BDs being released.

I hope the resale value of them goes up enough to inspire me to deal with the process at some point.

I really should just keep them anyway. Think twice and do nothing.

It was nice when studios actually were enthusiastic about catalog titles and competitively priced them. Now they're afterthoughts often priced at $20+ and usually with minimal to no extras. Boutique labels have been picking up the slack, though often at a bit of a premium price. I'm probably buying like 5% of what I was a few years ago.

Ironically, Paramount makes their discs in Germany, which while it could get tariff'd as well, I doubt it'd effect Paramount's physical production as if Germany gets tariffs, they'd most likely be blanket tariffs, and would be general inflation rather than a "Oh noes, my Made in China back massager broke, time to buy a Made in Vietnam one!" situation.
