Bruce Glover, ‘Diamonds Are Forever’ Villain, Dies at 92

Quote:
Bruce Glover, a character actor who played the assassin Mr. Wint in “Diamonds Are Forever” and appeared on dozens of TV shows, died March 12. His son, the actor Crispin Glover, confirmed the actor’s death on Instagram but did not give further details.

Among Glover’s other film appearances were as Duffy in “Chinatown,” “Walking Tall” and “Hard Times.”

Born in Chicago, Bruce Glover acted in the theater and started out on television in shows including “My Favorite Martian,” “The Rat Patrol,” “The Mod Squad,” “Gunsmoke,” “Adam 12,” “Mission: Impossible,” “Police Story,” “Barney Miller” and “CHiPs.”He played Soviet military officer Captain Voda in “The Six Million Dollar Man.”

In 1971’s “Diamonds Are Forever,” Glover portrayed the assassin Mr. Wint alongside musician Putter Smith’s Mr. Kidd.

He talked about working with “Diamonds Are Forever” director Guy Hamilton in a blog interview in 2019, recalling, “Whatever you come up with, if you have a good director you can discuss with him what you want to do. Like Guy Hamilton was wide open to every idea I had and a lot of the success of the humor of that film was me. Those were all my ideas. The final moment in the film where Sean Connery does that rude thing pushing the hooha up my yaha and giving that character his final great sexual moment is the biggest laugh in the movie. I remember getting a few compliments on that from the Saint, Sir Roger Moore, saying it was the funniest Bond moment of all which I appreciate.”

After appearing as deputy Grady Coker in “Walking Tall,” he went on to appear in sequels “Walking Tall Part 2” and “Walking Tall: Final Chapter.” He continued appearing on television in shows including “Hart to Hart” and “Murder, She Wrote.”

Later in his career, Glover appeared in “Night of the Scarecrow,” “Die Hard Dracula” and played Feldman, the wheelchair guy in “Ghost World.”

Glover also taught acting in Los Angeles for many years.

In addition to Crispin Glover, he is survived by another son, Michael Leigh Glover.
