Synapse just revealed on their podcast that the rights issues involving Prom Night and Curtains have been settled and mentioned they were able to renew the license for both. They begin talking about it around 13:15, mentioning a new company acquiring the old company's titles and wanting to do releases.

The direct confirmation for Prom Night is at 17:20, where they confirmed the release is coming.

Proud to my part. I just ordered Prom Night last Sunday. I even thought there’s no possible way for to a 4K to happen, yet here we are. lol

Not surprised about this, the hugely positive response to Hello Mary Lou getting a 4K probably made the new rights holders want to strike while the iron is hot.

Why would you think a Prom Night 4K would be impossible? We've been getting the weirdest, most obscure stuff on 4K for years now - nothing is off the table. Prom Night is a quintessential slasher and it's certainly deserving of an upgrade like anything else.

I bought it about a year ago as a blind buy (just after blind buying My Blood Valentine). Looking forward to the UHD.

There was talk that the negative might have gone missing. Probably because of the ownership change. Thankfully the new owners seem to have done their due diligence.

I'm a tad more excited about Curtains possibly hitting 4K but both getting the treatment is great news. We're lucky the new owners want to play ball; usually someone comes in and wants to make sequels and remakes with the properties. That may be the case here but that they're willing the license the rights for physical media is a good sign.

it was stated in the podcast they did locate the negative for Prom Night and are doing the scan right now

it's Curtains and Prom Night 3 and 4 they're having to search for, Prom Night 2 got lucky because MGM happened to have an element archived somewhere in their vault
