Yeah, because instead of WW2, they'll actually put "Daylight" on the disc instead and no one will catch it in time.

The first film on 4K is one of those rare Paramount gems that got the A-team treatment like The Addams Family and Major League. It gave me hope that the same could happen for WW2 one day. Seeing KL on the spine feels like a sick joke...

The mastering was done by Paramount. Hopefully it turns out good.

I admire your optimism, but I trust that Kino isn't done ruining otherwise great looking masters with garbage encodes.

That I can’t say, but Paramount said they did the master and Kino are just releasing the disc. I guess we will soon find out.

The master is not the encode. But as it's Paramount we're talking about then even if they did all the authoring to disc there's no guarantee they'd use their a-team for it, so either way the odds of a bleh encode are pretty damned high.

Paramount said Kino are just releasing the disc, so I presumed/read that as Paramount did all the work. All paramount discs are indeed an encode gamble. Let’s hope our roulette number comes up!

If they're doing all the work from soup to nuts then I don't get why they'd farm it out instead of just releasing it themselves, you know? I've not heard of another indie release where the studio literally did everything for them, it kinda defeats the point of licensing it out.

I agree, but in this day and age, I don't know if it worked out financially better for Kino to license it from them, or Paramount just didn't want to take the risk. No idea mate. I just know that Paramount did the mastering and Kino are just releasing the disc, whatever that entails.

Either way, I really hope we have the A team on this one. That being said, the Arrow deal with Paramount UK gives me hope we could always have a back up plan going forward.

Pretty sure Kino has their own contracted disc authoring and the only thing Paramount is doing is providing the master.

Love the second film as well and saw it in theaters as a kid. I actually watched the old LD not too long ago and it had a great PCM sound mix. VS releasing it as a double feature would be expensive but done well.
