Default New Tremors Sequel - Creators Win Back Script Rights

‘Tremors’ Creators Win Back Script Rights; Kevin Bacon Could Return for a New Installment

Quote:
Stampede Entertainment, the team behind Tremors and its first three sequels, have won back the rights to the original script for the 1990 classic.

This allows director Ron Underwood, writers Brent Maddock and S.S. Wilson, and producer Nancy Roberts to have creative control over the future of the franchise after being shut out of Universal Studios’ three most recent sequels.

“We aren’t reading outside ideas. We are discussing a return-to-Perfection sequel, and one or two more outlandish ideas featuring graboids in new settings,” the team wrote on their website.

“Whatever we decide to pitch to Hollywood, it will not be a remake the first movie with a new cast. Nor will it be a version of our original script for Tremors 5.

“We are considering ideas that feature the return of Kevin Bacon as Val, but no promises!”

Bacon reprised the role of Valentine McKee in a pilot for a Tremors TV series back in 2017, but Syfy passed on the show. The pilot never saw the light of day, but you can watch the trailer below.

Stampede has also enlisted Christian Francis to write a novelization of the original Tremors script, which was titled Beyond Perfection. Francis has authored novels based on Wishmaster, Session 9, and the forthcoming In the Mouth of Madness.

This could be cool if they bring back Bacon. I'm honestly excited for the novelization.

Too bad they couldn’t get things together before Fred Ward passed away.

I really hope they try for a bigger theatrical. This series has lived in the cheapie DTV world for far too long.

This is awesome news. I wonder how they’ll explain Burt surviving...if he did. I assume he did.

I know the last few DTV movies weren’t the best but I hope they keep them in continuity. They were interesting at least.

I was hoping both Kevin Bacon and Fred Ward would eventually return too but still cool to have Kevin back on his own.

I hope that in some distant reality, there's a crossover of Maddock/Wilson universes where Johnny Five is fighting Grabiods.

I’m shocked we haven’t had a "somehow, Burt returned" post. I’ve taken care of it.
