Love this movie. It has always amused me that the only evidence of there being any living souls in Antonio Bay outside of the speaking parts that are directly involved in the plot, is the awkward congregation of crew members pretending to be townsfolk holding the commemoration ceremony.

Obviously they were limited in what they could do with their budget. Otherwise they might have went for putting more of the community on screen, like with Amity. I don't know if that would have made it better though. I alwaysd like the way Carpenter could effortlessly make characters, and the audience, seem isolated.

The very beginning of this film encapsulates what makes this film so great. It's a good ole fashioned ghost tale told around the fire with charisma, atmosphere, and forboding dread. An underrated classic.
