Default Holes in walls

Hey all. Been a while since I've been here... Good to be back. Lots of new HT's that look fantastic.

I put a ton of holes in my walls because I'm always arranging posters/pictures/shelves. For the really small holes, I've heard that toothpaste can help, but what's the best way to fix those dang holes you put in the wall?

Spackle or drywall compound. Then prime and paint.

I would think toothpaste could attract ants or other bugs.

Thanks.

The toothpaste method is more for people that are moving out of an apartment and need a quick-fix and maybe for like 1 or 2 holes. I tried it on one of mine and it seemed to work well (I rent a semi-crappy apartment).

Yeah, as stated, some good spackling compound will work well. Just make sure to get a decent putty knife to apply it with. I wouldn't get a putty knife less than 4" wide. A very fine sanding block will do the trick after it's dry.

+1 on compound and sanding.

I thought I invented the toothpaste technique... used to do that a lot when moving from an apartment back in my younger years.

If you have larger holes and textured walls - stuff something in the hole first like a wad of paper and then use more toothpaste.

If they're really small pin/nail holes, dab small amounts of spackle over them with your finger, then wipe with a clean damp rag to remove the excess.
