Had to send the shop a reminder email, but my replacement disc is now on its way.
A bit disappointed that they don't do it themselves, but the support was pretty quick with their response.

I recommend that you send Umbrella an e-mail. That should work. You bought the set or the previous buyer bought it. You are entitled to a correct set. Umbrella does not reply within hours, give them time.

Just sampled the replacement disc and the encode has definitely been improved. Grain looks much tighter during the opening shot of Tiberius' funeral, for example, whereas it looked terrible on the old disc. The smoke really turned it into digital mush, it was like watching a YouTube video circa 2006. Ditto the scene where Caligula is questioning Longinus right before showcasing his Imperial Brothel. It looks like Lego on the old disc as Caligula passes a white background, but the replacement disc is much improved.

I don't wanna definitively say that this is the best way to watch The Ultimate Cut as I'd have to take another look at the US and German discs (though I recall the latter holding its own, localised text aside), but yeah, definitely e-mail Umbrella if you haven't already. I can't say for certain if this is a FiM encode, mind, as some (myself included) had speculated. There's nothing after the credits to indicate, which I believe FiM had started doing?

Both the 5.1 and 2.0 tracks are now lossless btw, not just the 5.1, although Heather Drain's commentary remains lossy.

I’ve been looking out for another credit like this with other FiM titles after Arrow’s Dressed to Kill but didn’t see them, so it was probably a one-off for Arrow as they repeatedly credited Engine House instead of Fidelity in their booklets.

Can anyone here tell me which disc is which cut? I hate to ask a rather easy question. But it's taking me way too long to find any simple post saying "disc 1 is such-and-such cut, disc 2 is... etc." And if it's on the back of the case, that print is way too small for my old eyes to see, lol

My replacement disc showed up today
Arrived in a big box full of brown paper and a sealed cardboard square case that housed the 4k disc
4k disc now has 5.1 and 2.0 sound

I've had confirmation from David M himself. The replacement disc was indeed encoded by FiM.

if they got the unrated cut from German license holders then they may be able to ask them for the new version they released and replace the unrated disc but that will never happen sadly.

Probably just re-packing their remaining stock so it comes with the replacement disc. It went out of stock at the same time they started sending out the replacement disc.

By the way: I paid 6.80 euros for the customs duty on my replacement disc. That's not exactly free. :-/

Are you located in the EU? Umbrella are not yet IOSS compatible but they’re currently setting it up.

My delivery must have arrived in Frankfurt yesterday and I'm also expecting a customs fee. But I was given the tip to deal with the authorities as this is a free spare part.
