Synapse has already confirmed that the scan is done for Prom Night (or at least was being performed when they mentioned it in their podcast about a month back).

It'll be in native 4K, for sure. As to the compression well that's another issue but they're not gonna just recycle some old master.

Yes but this thread is for a non-US release. Doubt they're using a legit 4K scan, either ours or otherwise.

And why do you doubt that? Does this label have a track record for not using 4K scans on their UHD releases?

Because I seriously doubt that they're gonna use some upscale. Synapse mentioned that the scan was being completed over a month ago on their podcast, there's only gonna be one 4K master (as the rightsholders are in Canada) so my guess is they're both using the same scan but doing their own restoration. So news breaks that Prom Night is getting a fresh 4K scan and coming to UHD from Synapse and then Fokus Media announces their own 4K for later this year. It's clearly because a new 4K scan was done.

101Films in the UK, for example, used Synapse's scan for Prom Night on their BD, so it's just as likely that this German label uses the 4K scan that Synapse completed.

Don May Jr on DeadPit show just hours ago stated, he has the original negative to Prom Night and if someone else is putting out a 4K it’s NOT from the OCN, and he says his 4K scan looks amazing.

It feels sooner than later, he was already QC the transfer but is hoping to get Jamie Lee on a commentary track

Oh NICE. Hope they're able to get her to do it, she seems way more open now about her horror roots.

I hope they're able to release it this year since it's the 45th anniversary.

To be fair that Halloween commentary with her constantly talking about how scary everything is was over the top. Even Carpenter was like, honey dial it down lol

If she does one and soon fine, but if it holds up the disc forever, I say skip it.
