I thought the first movie was fine and didn't really need a sequel. Turning The Grabber into Freddy Krueger, essentially, is an interesting choice. Looks like he's even attacking people in their dreams. I wonder if Scott Derrickson tried to direct A Nightmare on Elm Street movie before?

The trailer looked better than I expected. I'll check it out. Props to Ethan Hawke for coming back to a role where you probably aren't going to see his face for 99% of the film.

Interesting trailer.

I haven't seen BP1. Is Ethan Hawke a supernatural evil being, or just a human playing evil traps on these victims? I guess that's part of the mystery but if he's supernatural, I think that'll help me see it faster. Like how Art the Clown isn't just a serial maniac but a demon being to deal with and defeat.

I would recommend you watch it sooner rather than later, it really is a very well made chiller, with some strong performances, even from the young actors. It’s hard to say more without spoiling it, but it’s a cool little horror.

I liked the first movie, though I didn’t love it. This one seems like an improvement, in my opinion. Or maybe I’m just a sucker for the winter setting.

I usually avoid trailers for movies I’m excited for. Does this one spoil a lot?

Kinda yeah.

While I wish I didn't see it, I was in the theater, and didn't realize what it was at first. It looks GREAT, so I'm sufficiently hyped, I hope I don't see the trailer again though.

I feel like at this point this is Blumhouse' single surefire hit this year. FNAF 2 could also be big, but the first one wasn't well received and the curiosity factor is gone, still the fanbase is big enough and the holiday release will help.

same deal for me. I went to finally see Final Destination on Wednesday, and the trailer popped up, had no idea what it was but was pleasantly surprised, great trailer. looks like this could be
[Show spoiler]a modern Nightmare on Elm Street

Rated R for strong violent content, gore, teen drug use, and language.

Given the original source material for Joe Hill's The Black Phone is only 27-pages total, I didn't think the film needed a sequel either.

From what I've read, it sounds like Joe Hill was very protective of his story but caved when Scott Derrickson presented an idea for a sequel that was very much on the back of $161-million dollar success at the Box Office.

I'll probably see this as I have a Regal Unlimited Pass but I'm not expecting anything fresh or original.

The first one didn’t interest me that much, but everything I’ve seen from this one has me interested!

I didn't see the first movie because it really felt like the trailer showed the entire movie. I also didn't really like the design of the mask, but that was a minor problem - there have been some real crap masks lately in movies I've liked. I think the sequel looks awesome though. I might just jump right into the sequel without seeing the first. Is there more to part 1 than what is in the trailer?

I don't recall seeing a trailer for it. All I can say is, it's one of the best genre films I've watched in the past 20 years, and I highly recommend it.

Thanks, I'll give it a shot so I have some idea what's going on. I have Peacock, so I guess I have no excuse to not watch it.
