I thought it was pretty solid as well. Haven’t seen it in a while but I do remember the editing stood out to me.

It also has probably one of the the cheesiest 80s openings in a film, with the music, the competition, and everyone cheering. I was laughing and smirking through it.

Gosh I wish I would've bought the slipcover edition from VS. It's maybe my favorite slip ever. It just looks so slick.

^I almost did, but there's a problem when the slipcover is much better than the movie it envelops.

Easily one of the lesser slashers I've come across.

It's been asked before, but has anybody compared the 88 Films and VS discs directly? Wondering if one has a clear a/v advantage over the other.

The opening of NIGHT SCREAMS featured 4K footage of GRADUATION DAY and it looked great. Made me want it on 4K very bad!

Just watched this with my fiancé and we had a really good time with it. The film is actually very competently made and we thought the editing was fantastic. Despite the budget, it's pretty darn good.

I think the 4.8 on imdb is kind of low and undeserved. The film is ambitious in a way. I'm not here to claim that it's some revelatory piece of filmmaking, but I think it offers up a bit more nuance than the usual slasher fare.

My soon-to-be wife enjoyed it so much, she even managed to stay awake through the extras, which is unheard of for her.

Lower-tier 80s slasher, which means it still has "comfort food/nostalgia" vibes for fans of such fare, but suffers when compared to to its more lauded brethren.

Slasher fans don't look for reasons for why we like 'such fare' - we either do or we don't. Graduation Day is one of the best.

I'm a slasher fan and I bought it precisely because bad slashers, which this undoubtedly is, still fill a certain void. Like I said above, they scratch a nostalgic itch and are reliable, undemanding cinematic fodder.

But to call Graduation Day "one of the best" betrays either a lack of knowledge/familiarity with the subgenre, abject denial, or both. It can't even objectively stack up to the best of its year, let alone the entirety of slasherdom.

There are bootleg slips all over ebay, but it looks like they all come with discs of some sort (probably boot too).
They do look well done, but I'm waiting for a VSMC version since I missed it too.

The odd thing is I can no longer find Graduation Day on Vinegar Syndrome's website! It's simply not listed. I just bought it from them, I have a copy of it from them, and it's no where to be found on their site.

How odd!

Luckily, I still have the link of where it should be from an email I received from them, and it simply says "Oops - We couldn't find that one"

https://vinegarsyndrome.com/products...kmMGBA4.W8ryf6

Anyone know why it wouldn't be listed anymore?

...it's partner label month. The VS discs will be available again at the beginning of July.
