And I'll stop you right there, because your entire premise and everything that followed is based on assumptions.
Information encoded to the disc isn't a "strange result." It's not like it's a random shot of some code, or that rip somehow pulled that message from the ether. The questions should be "why is the message hidden unless you rip the movie from the disc?" and "what changes, if any are there to the movie?" |

It's a screw up for sure and it's HIS issue, not the release in general. |

So, rip it and honestly tell everyone if the message shows up or not. In the time it took you to post all these insults, you could have ripped the movie and confirmed whether or not it was there. I'd question whether you'd be honest about it at this point, but we'll cross that bridge later. And if "it's not supposed to be there" I'll need a source. Edit: I'd be curious what anyone else's results are from ripping this as well. Last edited by Bobafett345; 06-25-2025 at 03:27 AM. |

If you still want to conspire and go head hunting for this magic cut of TLW, then go right ahead. Buy it, figure it out for yourself. |

The only one who seems to think there's "magic" and "conspiracies" here is you. Then what happened when you ripped your copy? Message there, or not? |

Damn, I just thought it was a strange thing to see and figured I'd get others take on it. Didn't mean for this to happen.
There is a very high chance it is only there as some sort of authoring error. Also it could be for a bonus feature, but I don't even know which one it would make sense for. Or maybe Universal intentionally wanted dumb arguments on the bd forums to happen. All I can say for sure is that there is only 1 version of the film on the disc, that message is present in the files of the disc, and it doesn't show up organically while playing the movie. |

![]() please show me proof where there is an alternative cut of The Lost World... there would have been word of an alt cut/remastered cut because you don't just add deleted/alternative scenes into your 4K scan... do you know how jarring that would look? |

It's ok. It's an interesting find, and in a normal discussion people would be talking about what changes, if any were made to the movie and why it takes ripping the disc to reveal the message. |

What bothered me was that despite numerous attempts to burst your bubble, you insisted on a silly notion that you presumed instead of coming to the more sensible conclusion that it was an authoring error. Being obtuse is not a quality to have in any discussion, especially one that should never have been anyway.

When you rip the one we're currently discussing and come back with whether or not the "modifed" message is there, then that will mean something. Quote:
That would have been sensible. But even in your reply you can't have a sensible discussion and keep to the same tired insults and trolling you started with. If it's an authoring error, the issue would seem to be that the disc skips playing the "modified from original version" message it was encoded with. |

Ah, understood. Then, presumably, the studios frown on the copying of their property, and it is possible that such an act might violate copyright law. Maybe that explains why the message only appears during that process.

Depending on your locale, you are allowed to make yourself a backup copy for yourself so long as you own a copy you purchased legitimately. And there's people who make clips for "fair market use" (also depending on your locale), etc. It's a good point that there could be new anti piracy stuff getting baked in, but this would be a pretty tame one, honestly. |
