Did you order from the listing on Orbit that specified that it would have a slipcover (which is the only listing I see currently, though the disc's currently out of stock)?

I preordered from Atomic, and, like seemingly everyone else who did the same, also failed to receive a slipcover. What a (highly localized, minimally devastating) disaster.

I have the answer straight from the nitrate vault manager at Eastman: the K records are not stored with the negatives for any three-strip film. Like the other color matrices they were strictly used for printing and likely discarded after the prints were made. Or possibly given back to MGM and then discarded later, but those simply no longer exist. So all 480 pounds of GWTW is strictly the three-strip R/G/B (or C/M/Y) camera negatives.

Incidentally, when it came to three-strip Technicolor really only stored color negatives. That's why Eastman has the three strip OCN's of WIZARD OF OZ but not the OCN negatives for the B+W/sepia segments--those were always stored separately at MGM since Technicolor (at that time) wasn't in the B+W printing business. (I guess on early releases those segments were printed and sepia toned at MGM's own lab). She told me that records indicate that the OCNs for the B+W reels were discarded by MGM in the 70s--it seems like they were simply too beat up and/or degraded due to overuse in the intervening decades. A shame, since 50 years later even those rough negatives could have been used for a higher quality digital restoration today.

My copy just arrived from Barnes & Noble with a slip. Can't wait to watch the film in the next day or so... I spot checked a few scenes and it looks amazing!

But that's why it's so good. It's four hours of Vivien Leigh being a diva. Cinematic bliss.

My Amazon order (fulfilled by Allied Vaughn) arrived with a slip, although the mailer wasn't padded or anything, so it arrived a little beaten up. I'm okay with it, though.

My Amazon copy arrived with a slipcover but they sent it in a loose bag so it was bent and torn to Hell and back. Ugh.

Same. Mine came from Amazon in a one of those off-white baggies and has a slipcover. Shipped from Illinois. But mine's in okay shape.

My copy from Amazon arrived yesterday and it has a slip. It was shipped in an envelope but there was no damage.

Do you know where it shipped from? My slipless one from Amazon came from Rhode Island. Thanks.

I've been itching to order this (and Lilo & Stitch) because of slipFOMO but it seems I need not bother. Will probably wait until the Criterion flash sale in the autumn and get them then. Meh.

Sorry, I didn’t look and I already threw the envelope out. I’ll try to fish it out of the trash can later.

It would be in your order history. Just check the tracking. No need to look in the trash .

You’re right! According to tracking, the movie was shipped from Addison, Illinois. But it doesn’t say what the name of the company was that shipped it.

Yeah, my order was placed and said sold by and shipped by Amazon. It came from Rhode Island. Maybe I'll place another order. I wonder if yours was sold by and shipped through Amazon. The only other one I saw at the time was Newtownvideos but it wouldn't have been them because shipping was extra (not Prime).

I believe that's around where Allied Vaughn ships from.
