the only episodes there would have been a point in putting on blu-ray would have been the pilot (was remastered and properly reconstructed from the original negatives) and seasons 7-9 because those were produced in hd when they aired. to put it on blu-ray, they would have had to reconstruct all of seasons 1-6 from the original negatives (the 1080p rips floating around was an upscale from the master tapes that wb did), and outside of some bbc shows, i've never seen upscales on blu-ray. i also don't think they would have been able to recoup the much bigger cost it probably would have been to put it on blu-ray. also, dvds sell more than blu-rays and 4k blu-rays combined. in a business perspective, it makes the most sense to have kept it dvd only.

One thing that nobody has brought up is if you tape the show off of reruns now most tend to come in under 20 minutes. Pluto has most episodes at 22 minutes. This is insanely short for a show this old. This much being cut out of every show can't be explained under music cuts. Can someone that has the set please tell us what the average episode clocks in at? Thanks. If they usually run about 24 or 25 minutes, I will buy it, but I am not paying for episodes if they are "syndicated" versions.

Even The Price is Right doesn't take time to describe products anymore, just the name, a quick pic and on to the next one to speed things along. I think I recall a Simpsons commentary or interview where the creators were lamenting having to cram and develop later season episodes to fit a 17 minute slot. |

Okay, I've been way out of the loop. I have the set, still haven't broken the seal. Can anyone tell me, aside from...
-S4E10: "Drew's Dance Party" -S7E01 and S7E02: "Drew Carey's Back-to-School Rock 'n' Roll Comedy Hour: Parts 1 & 2" -S8E17: "What's Love Got To Do With It?" ...are there any other cuts/edits/missing episodes? And if so, what are they? *EDIT:* Between the 2006 Television Favorites DVD, and the 2007 S1 DVD, are any episodes uncut on those old DVDs and cut on the new one (or vice versa), and are any of the features from the two old discs carried over to the new set? Two, while yes there's a higher cost to bringing tape-based content to Blu-ray or 4K (in short, tape on 4K could happen, but the only benefit would be preserving the original frames-per-second of play, and there'd be no actual benefit in terms of picture quality), the other reasons are because there's not exactly a major uptick in quality (fact) and that no matter which way they do it (straight upscale, attempt to remaster, smooth it over, make it look glassy, etc), it seems like the entire Internet will get into a projectile shitting match with the disc's producers, manufacturers, and distributors as their targets (theory). One of my most wanted tape-based releases that rarely gets discussed is Full House, and even though the DVDs are rife with edits (I found one, other users found several that I missed), I had hoped they could be straightened out for the Blu-ray. However, one, it would cost more to remaster the show for Blu-ray than it would to just reprint the old DVDs (which short of a remaster for Blu-ray, there's not much that can be done to improve those DVDs' quality), two, the increase in quality wouldn't be much, and three, no matter which way WAC or a boutique goes about doing it, people would still think they did it wrong. There were three live episodes recorded I believe for seasons 4-6, and each one was performed three times to accommodate for the different timezones but whenever the show entered syndication they'd only use one of each of the three.
One thing that'd be significant is if this set restored the original uncensored version of Two Drews and the Queen of Poland Walk Into a Bar, which hasn't been seen since the original ABC broadcast. I heard a report it was uncensored but it'd be nice to get confirmation elsewhere. |

I've been looking through my old tapes and asking and bugging everybody in the world about the ABC airing of "Win A Date With Kate" in 3D, but nothing has turned up yet. Still hoping it will resurface to make this set, along with the fan-corrected complete collection, complete-er. |

They shouldn't, ABC didn't air them and the syndicated versions that did include the pop ups also each had footage cut in the opening scenes. |
