I think it'd be amusing if it's just the two characters in their retirement still fighting over who was right or wrong concerning the events of the first movie.

My Dad who served on subs in the US Navy in the early 1960’s hated Crimson Tide. I forget why but he said that it wasn’t accurate enough. Not having served on one I didn’t care how inaccurate it was. Great movie.

In a recent interview, Bruckheimer spoke about how sequels are all about a response to box office success because that means the audience wants more, and he mentioned Days of Thunder 2, Top Gun 3, National Treasure 3 and Pirates of the Caribbean 6.

No this does not need a sequel. However if it gets the first one out on 4K then I would be ok with it.

Why not pull a Sleuth and remake it with Denzel in the Hackman role? Actually, even if it is a sequel I bet it's a variation of this idea.
