35th anniversary of T2 next year, so I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s another go at a 4K release, more in line with what we got with T1.

It will , but the AI is much better now than it was when the original T2 4K transfer was done

Depends in which stage the movie was when he did those altercations.
Probably on the version that was cleaned for 3D and not before the scrubbing of grain.

Aliens also had some modifications that were done on 2k and that's where we got the 4k AI upscaling from

I don't expect a brand new looking T2 next year.
In the audio department it might get an Atmos track.

If he AI's the existing master we in trouble. If he went back to the raw scan that they did and AI'd it along the lines of Titanic and The Abuse and indeed The Terminator then I could live with that. I wouldn't want it done that way, but with Cameron we have to take the small victories where we can get them.

I'm not crazy about that "before" image, if someone told me it's the degrained screenshot but with added fake grain for illustration purposes only, I would believe that.

I don't know how you guys can say good stuff about Titanic, I couldn't stand those AI'd oversharpened faces! However, The Terminator was pretty fine. So, like Terminator - ok! Like Titanic - not OK!

Titanic's right on the edge for me. It was photographed so well to begin with that the AI is just polishing what's there, but any more artificiality and I'd have given up.

I found the Titanic 4K distractingly over sharpened unfortunately, and returned to the Blu as my main source. A shame really, as the HDR colours are very nice.
