I'm guessing they'll reimagine it as a film for older audiences, as nostalgia bait for those of us who saw the first film in the mid-2000s. Slightly more serious tone, and with a few Easter Eggs to the original.

I know it says an entirely new cast, but I'd be shocked if they don't do a Jurassic World and have one returning character. It would be odd to not have Ben Stiller make a cameo as Larry Daley.

I doubt they will go that far. I think it will be darker than the other three, as they will no doubt go for the nostalgia audience, and the audience have grown up since the first three films. However, it will still be appropriate for kids to watch.

I see this being more like the transition from Ghostbusters II to the Ghostbusters films that released from Ghostbusters: Answer The Call onwards.

The smart thing would be to do what Ghostbusters Afterlife did and centre the new Night At The Museum around Larry's kid. Then during the third act conclusion, Ben Stiller returns as Larry to help Nick save the day. Keep it a surprise like the OG Ghostbusters in Afterlife, and you're onto a winner.
