Ever been to Canada Danno? We have running water up here, you know. I've been to Boston. Nice city, in spots. Massachusetts is a nice state, in parts. Unless you live in Lawrence, or parts of Andover or North Plymouth. I wouldn't throw rocks at people you don't know. Someday, those people might be beside you on a battlefield. You know, somewhere like Afgansistan.

I actually defended his right to say what he thought on the 'slang' speak thing even though I agreed with the concept of 'it's the internet - gotta get used to it'. ...but this is just someone with a superiority complex and a control-freak attitude, that needs a good slap.

Gotta keep an open mind about things and think before you open your trap or get your fingers tapping.

Wow.

You misread my sarcasm that much that you made a War analogy?

A joke in poor taste, and I think you're backpedalling now that you've been called out. grow up.

Wow, we went from trying to support a format to USA vs. Canada on the world scene. I had not idea that Blu-Ray was so involved in politics.

We (Americans) know we are not liked by anyone outside of our country. I have been to Canada (Halifax) and I did get some digs for being American at restaurants and the hotel bar. I also took a networking class in New York City and the guy who sat next to me was from Canada, and he too did not like America and let me know about it. I have been to the UK and mainland Europe several times and they cannot stand Americans either. But I ignored all of that and when I just had normal conversations with these people from all of the above locations, I found out that they are just like me. They just want to get up in the morning go to work, come home and be with their families and go to bed at night- just like me. So here we are now in the same situation. We all just want to support Blu-Ray and bounce news and ideas off of each other. Who cares what country the person is from? This is not the UN, it is a Blu-Ray forum. Besides, where would the great sport of Hockey be without Canada?

It's poor taste to have a laugh at someone who couldn't be bothered reading the post dates on a thread that's 8 months old?

Or is it because I made fun of the fact that the guy chose a screen name of an Entire Country?

I'm NOT anti-Canada, by any means.

It was a joke.

Whoops sorry Blue, if I had seen your post I would not have posted anything. I was just trying to say the same thing- this is about Blu-Ray, not geo-politics. My apologies.

Can I just change my screen name to Iran so everyone can universally hate me?

First of all, yes it's in poor taste to laugh at someone for making a mistake about an old post. It happens. He was probably using the search feature and didn't realize how old the post was.

Second, why does it matter that he chose the screen name he did? I've seen screen names with far less thought put into them.

Lastly, I think you know that your comment was inappropriate at best. I'm not the only one you offended with that comment as you have seen from the posts that followed.

Now as Blue mentioned, let's drop it.

I made a joke about a guy's screen name (because it's just a little strange to me to name yourself after an entire country) and everyone from that country gets pissed off about it.

I agree about the French...

Nah, I'm gonna say it was actually just a joke. I don't know the guy and I'm not defending him, but it seemed silly enough to me.

And let me say this, I love this board, but the people here are way too sensitive. I always stay on best behavior because the folks round these parts have very thin skin.
