Default Futurama Space Pilot & nibbler's shadow

I saw the shadow of nibbler right before fry's chair fell back as he gets frozen. Was that added later for the dvd boxset? I doubt the writers at the time knew nibbler was involved.

Post Actually...

[Show spoiler]This was planned from the start. I recorded the pilot episode the night it premiered and you can clearly see the shadow. If you look around the desk everytime they revisit the cryolab, you'll notice Nibbler's eye poking out of the trashcan and in a later episode you actually see Fry & Nibbler's shadow, hinting at Fry going back in time again and having something to do with his going to the future. They originally had plans for Fry & Leela, which is why Nibbler refers to Leela as "the other" in "The Why of Fry", but the show was scrapped before they could expand on this.
Hopefully they pick this back up when the show begins again next year.

If you listen to the commentaries, they talk about this more and more as the seasons go on and finally tell you the whole story on the commentary track for "The Why of Fry". In the first episode, though, I believe they just hollar "SECRET!" when the scene settles onto the area under the desk.

Thanks for that

I have always hoped that they would expand on the whole thing with Leela being the "other". Fry & L being chosen ones or something.

I wonder if they will in season 6? I also wonder if they are gonna explain how they got back from where ever they went in that wormhole in Wild Green Yonda.

Smile You're Quite Welcome Everyone!

There's a commentary with every episode, just like 'The Simpsons' DVD sets. (Unless there's a new, (hopefully) cheaper, bare bones set out there that I don't know about.) If you've never listened to 'em, you're in for a real treat! These guys are great! There's an episode where Billy West does Fry during the commentary and starts saying things like,"Oh! I can't stand watching myself on tv!" And then there's the moment that Matt Groening brings up that one of the actors does the voice of The Big Brain and the dude breaks into the voice of Brain from "Pinky & the Brain"! Another favorite moment of mine is when John Dimaggio (the voice of Bender) starts speaking in spanish (at least I think it was spanish. I haven't listened to the comms in years, so he may have just been saying nonesense that I'm remembering as spanish) and getting louder and louder until he drowns out David X. Cohen who's desperatly trying to explain something that he feels is important to know! It can also get pretty nerdy because alotta the crazy stuff in the show is based off of real science which they delve into pretty deep at times, but the humor is always there. That's what I love about this show; Their attention to detail. They're nerds, afterall.

I'm pretty sure the show is gonna pick up where the last movie left off. So, if you haven't seen the 4 direct-to-DVD/Blu-ray flicks, I'd see 'em if I were you. There were some mighty big changes to the Futurama Universe. The biggest of which:
[Show spoiler]Nibbler's feces no longer works as starship fuel, so they're back to using whale oil!

Yeah I noticed on some episodes there were two audio comm tracks. Because they had to start again. I think because some of the voice actors were laughing & fooling around too much.
