Just buy the Eureka 4K.

I very much doubt many studios want to touch this film.

Well, I did something rather naughty this evening.

I live about 20 minutes walk from the cinema, and was about to leave home, just about to shut down my PC when I saw the email from Eureka, so had a quick look; didn't have time to login and purchase, so shut down and with only ten minutes before the scheduled start time of my film, I ran to the flicks, arriving after 15 minutes. Just had time to... get comfortable... and then to sit down. My phone was on in the auditorium (already on silent and with the screen on lowest brightness setting) as I had my wallet open and card out on my lap. I was purchasing while the BBFC age rating was on the cinema screen, and I finished just as the opening credits started - and before the first scene. I then put my phone away in my pocket. I must have been keen, for I've never seen this blind buy. What does that say about me?

Oh the film I went to see? Akira Kurosawa's 'Ran' (1985). That was a blind buy too - and a truly magnificent one.

This is one of the rare films that I just can't help myself with. I've owned the UK Blu Ray (long since traded off years ago) and still own both the Canadian and Australian LE Umbrella releases of on Blu Ray. This was another easy pre-order. Ordered through Diabolik though there stupid sneaky route protection garbage got me as I failed to see it on order and it was only after I saw that the price was several dollars more than it was prior to me logging in, that I caught it. $60 in full this one got me for today. Still, it's an absolute gut punch of a film and Something I talked about for years upon first witnessing it, and so it was all worth it for me.

Here's to hoping that the video and sound knocks it out of the park and makes the quadruple dip well worth it.

Such a wholesome film that is great for the entire family. Would also be nice as a perfect Christmas gift.

I didn't see this one coming. No Blu-ray is safe I guess. I'm completely desensitized to horror but this one got me. Part of me says it's a one and done movie and I don't want to sit through it again but I guess I'll do it for the 4K. It's not a gore movie per se. It's just very disturbing and possibly the most nihilistic movie I've ever seen.

Lionsgate has the rights now through TWC going defunct, and chances are they'll license Eureka's master for a Lionsgate Limited steelbook. Again though, zero chance their release will be better than Eureka's.

You make it sound like one of the Guinea Pig movies, and it's not quite that. But, yeah, it is intense, and a warning is fair.

THIS. A preorder so nice, I purchased it twice. Two 4k copies in the bucket. Done deal. Gimme! Haters are just soft.

And yeah, Atomic Movie Store rocks.

I'm hoping FiM does this title. 16mm is tricky to compress on 4k UHD.

This release has resurrected me from the non-posting realm.

Amazingly, hauntingly beautiful and mesmerizing film. Personally don't think it's really that extreme or difficult to watch. Have seen it three times and will easily be watching it a 4th the day this bad boy lands on my door step. I've been very patiently waiting and told myself to not drop $150+ on the LE Umbrella release. Already have the Umbrella standard blu ray. But after all the French extremity Second Sight has been releasing, I'm surprised this didn't come from them. I'll gladly buy from Eureka though. One of the OG labels I really got into when I first started collecting.

Ordered through Orbit because while I like Diabolik, Brother Belial, and Atomic...I have a fierce loyalty to Orbit for some reason.

You made the right choice. I purchased the Umbrella LE and immediately upon arrival had nothing but reservations about dropping the money on it. (You can go find that thread and see my complaints). It was overpriced for what it offered. A solid option for folks that missed the Canadian release, but not worth a double dip for folks that already had that. The standard edition was by far the better choice... I have no doubt that you'll love the Eureaka release.

Only ever owned this movie on DVD. I do like the first half quite a bit, which is why I probably will get it (
[Show spoiler]not at all squeamish, but that "shutter effects" dead girl is some serious nightmare fuel!
), but after that, it's just a rather depressing and depraved affair...
To avoid everybody who hasn't seen it from thinking, I'm referring to gore-excesses: most of that is in the first half!

When it comes to the french extreme, my personal ranking is:

À l'intérieur > Haute Tension > Martyrs

Pre-ordered from my reliable spaniards!
I'd like to avoid any hassle with customs, particularly with this item...

No, I was being DEADLY serious.

I genuinely thought what happens in the film was filmed in real time, and in fact I didn't even know it was a dramatic film. I thought it was a documentary.

Now I know that there isn't really a weird cult torturing young women to help them achieve transcendence, I feel most relieved.

Carry on.
