I haven't watched a lot of Russian films, but this one was better than the 21st Century ones I've seen - more grounded and polished, less cliched, melodramatic, and patriotic. Oksana Akinshina helps - she must be a star there because the cameraman gave her a big entrance and I immediately thought, "her again?" Too bad I'm not really into creature features.
