Could be great, could be terrible. Hard to say from that trailer. The Oscar bit was the only part that made me laugh, & that might be purely down to familiarity.
Not sure about Domhnall Gleeson doing an American accent either. Could get old very quickly. Why bother when Tim Key isn't? ![]() |

Oh Oscar, you're on Peacock now, they CAN use that.
I always think it's a little odd when they cast actors from other countries to then just have them play an American. Unless them being from America is a specific character trait from their backstory like maybe growing up in a small town in Texas or something or if it's a real person, then I don't see why they don't just let people use their normal accents. |

What a relief, I thought this thread was about the Australian garbage series, but the trailer for this show looks pretty good.

Release strategy pivot: instead of releasing the season over four weeks as originally planned, all ten episodes will be available for full season binge on September 4th.
That said, I was hoping we'd get Season 9 of the Superfan episodes ahead of The Paper's premiere. I only just watched The Office for the first time via the Superfan episodes on Peacock, and they haven't added the final season yet. Season 8 released back in December, so you'd think they'd be ready by now? |

Watched the pilot episode too, yikes, that was very rough.
And why the hell did they release the entire season at once? Weekly would be better. |

I honestly thought Esmeralda was Mexican or somewhere from Latin America, but Italy? I'd never guess it. Also, she's so cartoony it's hard to take her character seriously.
Hope that episodes 2 and beyond are better than the pilot was, and that it's actually funny. |

Watched first two. Not great so far. Character just seem pretty blah.
BUT The Office took a bit to find it's feet. And everyone remembers Parks and Rec's VERY shaky first season. |

In the end, this was wonderful. I get why they pivoted to the full season binge, and the comments here prove it, it takes a few episodes to find it's groove. But so did the American version of The Office... the pilot of that was godawful. Here they tried too hard to shove all these wacky characters down our throat from the jump instead of letting their eccentricities develop more gradually like in the American original. But it does find it's way... probably around episode four or five I was all the way in... and captures the spirit of its predecessor nicely.
