Blu-ray Prince

Having now seen the 4K UHD in its entirety and the first 25 mins or so of the Blu-ray, it's fair to say that if I watch the film again I'll choose the latter disc to do so.
It's certainly worth watching again, even if the narrative begins to lose momentum towards the end. |

With the dead pixels, you'd have to point me to a concrete one, so we can be sure we're talking about the same thing, but I think I know what you mean and am pretty sure already that it's the same with the German one as well. I noticed plenty of digital garbage with the German disc already, which screamed source/cheap production to me. Not only weird beard that is. EDIT: Also remember you buying the German one, so maybe check yourself I guess. Last edited by andreasy969; 10-30-2022 at 08:07 AM. |

Those dead pixels were part of the filmography I think. I also noticed them in a few scenes (very small black dot here or there in a shot here and there). You have to sit really close to a big tv to spot it. I think most people might not notice them. This was shot on digital, or at least in part I think right? Otherwise I have no idea how those dead pixel spots would have happened.

It didn't look as bad as I thought it would be, but there were still some parts that were rough. In the opening scene the sky looked like it was just one color since it was so blown out and the yellow bricks of buildings outside were washed out too. Black levels were raised as well. I noticed the dead pixels mentioned above.
The interview with Verhoeven was a good watch but I wasn't expecting it to spoil a few of his previous movies. |

Is the Q&A with Verhoeven/Efira the same 43 minute as the one on the Capelight/Pathe releases? He speaks in English in a theater while she speaks in French in a hotel room with occasional clips from the film and Elle interspersed, under the title Der Weg ins Kloster (though just says it’s an entretien at the start rather than carrying that title.)
The English language Verhoeven interview produced by Capelight is worth the price of admission alone, he’s very eloquent talking the literary source, how ideas often come about by chance through producers and writers rather than planned, modern parallels to the historical events, not auditioning Rampling as he’s seen all her films, focusing on female protagonists, how filmmakers don’t think about the connections between films in the same way critics do, how he thinks the film should speak for itself rather than endless interviews, and his upcoming projects (a film about Jesus and a American political thriller scripted by Ed Neumeier). |
