Overall, I find the casting to be great. I’m sure makeup/costumes will help bring them closer to their character descriptions, especially the Dursleys.

Also, Columbus made the look timeless (ala Home Alone) so it never really dates itself.

True, it wasn’t until movies 5 and 6, with the inclusion of the Millennium Bridge and a flat screen TV in the Dursley’s home, did the 90s timeline no longer seem like a possibility.
