I have The Godfather Saga burned on DVD-R from the last time I recall it being aired years ago on maybe A&E or AMC. I did my best to pause my old player to edit out all the commercials (got it mostly right) and have those discs backed up a few times in case they go bad. Not sure why I haven’t transferred it to my computer and saved it as a digital file.

HBO aired it a few years ago and I have it on my dvr. But it’s getting close to the five year automatic deletion date.

No way to hook it up and record it off of there, even if it would have a slight drop in quality?

For some reason when I try to burn DVDs using my DVD recorder on dvr content it just records a black image.

One of my fondest memories is seeing The Godfather with my grandpa at the Orpheum theater in Los Angeles in 1972.

That's generally caused by HDCP - content protection, the signal is encrypted by the DVR and decrypted by the TV, to prevent capture devices.

Yeah I figured it had to do with copyrights. Recording live is no problem, just when I use something already recorded to the dvr.

I vaguely recall someone mentioning once years ago about playing from their dvr, but recording from something hooked up separately to their tv, not the dvr.

I don't remember how they did it, where I read it, otherwise I could point you in the direction or give clearer instructions.

Back to the steels: are these going to be the same art that came out for the recent 4Ks?

Yes, of course. OAB is WWA. Those are the only 4K WWA steels. The discs are the same as well, for anyone with deluded dreams that cuts retired 2/3 formats ago are suddenly going to appear on 200odd 4K discs in a niche chinese collectors set

I knew they were WWA, but which WWA was my question.

It would have been nice to have a proper "part III" steel instead of "coda (and byline)" but I can accept that maybe it's just me.

part 3 as a 4k steelbook only exists as 'coda' worldwide so unfortunately thats what we are going to get...

Which is why I said "would be nice."

I'd go into the nitty gritty of actually getting part III (vs coda) on 4K, but's a bit off topic for the thread.
