Metropolitan( France) will be releasing "The Dreamers" on 4k UHD in May. I'm going to assume it will have the same framing issues-

I think the best chance of getting corrected framing would be if Criterion released it and people emailed them informing them of the issue, but emailing other companies releasing it wouldn't hurt either.
I wonder if the DP even saw the framing or if he just signed off on the grade and expected them to frame it correctly afterwards (which is incredibly common and doesn't always work out). |

Criterion is streaming the film, and it started with Fox Searchlight's logo. https://www.criterionchannel.com/videos/the-dreamers |

BTW, my friend gets official confirm that Disney is still owning "The Dreamers" in US. Last edited by jackmovie; 07-15-2025 at 11:10 PM. |

Yeah, like Strange Days, it seems given the content of this film is the type Disney would not allow to be released. So I bought the UK version. But if Criterion was able to license it for streaming, I see a good chance they could license it for physical media.

I know that Strange Days' case is mainly due to every Blu-ray.com users' favorite punching-bag, James Cameron.
As for The "Dreeeamers. Nothing but a dreeamer" (sorry, can't help but think about the song from that stupid Rocky and Bullwinkle movie). I think it's easier to say that The Dreamers might have a slightly better chance of getting a new home video release in North America than...well say, a certain other film that Disney wants nothing to do with (apart from Mill Creek re-issues of an old crummy DVD and [adult swim] airings). Yea, the one I'm referring is exactly what y'all might be thinking. "Trust the Fungus", indeed. Last edited by Nate64; 08-31-2025 at 09:59 AM. |
