Thanks for the early review.

It’s been said before, but I hope Sleepy Eyes of Death is next after these. Raizo’s big film legacy should be available in high quality, even if some people are publicly asking for them to not be picked up by their favorite distributor.

Mine should be arriving alongside The Great Chase pretty soon. I will probably do what I did with Vol 1 and watch them all in one sitting. I did that with The Bounty Hunter as well.

It’s hard not to watch them back-to-back-to-back. It’s like what everybody says. They move very fast. They don’t waist too much time on a set piece, or even certain plot threads. A great example is the romance. Usually costume dramas will just insert a love plot for wide audiences, and that made up 50% of the movie. This doesn’t, and it’s better for it. They do have romance, but it is never half the focus. Every element in these gets split in a way to fluff it up. The 90 minutes of the plot always feels like it’s using its time wisely.

I received my copy of Volume 2 on Saturday. Watched pt. 4, Siege, last night. Very fun start to a new trilogy. It has some great battle & castle siege scenes, as well as some great ninja action. I hadn't paid close attention to the casting details, so I was happy to see familiar faces playing new roles

Finished the new set tonight. Part 6, The Last Iga Spy, may have the best fight choreography and ninja action scenes in all of the first 6 movies.

I hope we don't have to wait a full year for set #3!

Of the main series line, Siege (Part 4) is my favorite. Mission Iron Castle (loosely Part 9) is incredible.

Interesting that these are 2K whereas the previous set was just standard HD I believe.

Where did you hear that? Both sets look the same in terms of PQ quality I would say.
