'The Rocket' (aka Maurice Richard) coming Dec. 1, 2009

Alliance is putting out the Canadian film The Rocket (aka Maurice Richard) on Dec. 1, 2009. So far, this is the only film in the December "batch" of Alliance Blus.

The Rocket is one of my favourite hockey films ever so as long as Alliance provides the OAR, I will pick this one up

Yeah the film was originally presented as 2.35:1, so hopefully we get the right ratio on this one.

Alrighty, so I purchased & watched the blu-ray for 'Maurice Richard' (aka The Rocket). Its a fairly solid 2.35:1 transfer & is 1080p. Both english & french subtitles for the film, & english subs on most of the extras. My only gripe for watching the film is that when you select english subtitles, they subtitle EVERYTHING haha since the film is predominantly french. No biggie though. Anyways, Alliance released this the same day as a 2-disc DVD edition (same as the recent Passchendaele blu release). The nice 'Special Edition' slipcover states that the following are included as SD extras:
-"The Rocket" - National Film Board of Canada Documentary profiling the life and career of Maurice Richard both on and off the ice. Featuring game footage and revealing interviews with Richard himself, the first star of the golden age of hockey. (42 mins, both eng & french versions)
-Deleted Scenes with optional director commentary (6 mins, both eng & french versions)
-"A Tribute to Maurice Richard, The Rocket" (22 mins)
-Trailer (both eng & french versions)

Thanks for the review, I was thinking about getting it but I wanted to wait for someone to see it first. Guess, I'll be going to HMV to get it soon

HMV has the best price, at $20.
