Default What Kind of Audio Can HD Add-On Give?

Some ads say 7.1 surround sound. I thought the only way for the Xbox 360 to handle the additional codecs, for output, would be via analog outputs (one cable for each channel of sound to a receiver) or HDMI 1.3 (to a HDMI 1.3 compliant receiver). Can this also be done via optical output? If not, how can the HD-DVD add-on supply anything but DD/DTS 5.1?

I thoroughly agree. Shame on Microsoft once again.

Since the only real way to output audio from the 360 is optical, the best audio you can get would be DD/DTS (lossy).

Wow! Sure beats PS3 eh?
That's pretty piss poor of MS to not have included HDMI, but they still maintain that it is not an accepted format.
What more acceptance does it need?

That will e the next add on. See what you will have to do is add on HD Drive to Xbox360, 360 via vga to cat or dog, dog/cat to roll of tinfoil, then to HDMI box, then to reciever.
Just rember MS is one letter away from BS.
