Pretty cool... Of course I'm stuck with my PS3 as a player for at least a year hehe.

Hopefully these retail up here for less than $549 Canadian which is the cheapest player we can get here in stores! And hopefully they give them away free with Sharp TVs too.

That's great, guess Toshiba won't be able to brag for long now (about price). I like Sharp too.

This is great news. Everyone is going to see what competition can do for a product line. Saturday I went to Brandsmart (a huge electronic retailer in Miami) There were four Blu-Ray players (different manufacturers) displays. How many HD DVD palyers on display? Zero.

The BD-HP20U, which comes in piano black finish, can output 1920 x 1080 24 fps (frames per second) high-definition video via anyone of its several HDMI v1.3 outputs. It also features a quick start feature which the company says will begin playback in less than 10 seconds. Additionally, the player offers multi-channel audio output via HDMI by decoding Dolby TrueHD and Dolby Digital Plus.

The player is compatible with a wide variety of formats including BD-ROM/RE/R, DVD Video, DVD-RW/R, DVD+RW/R, and Audio CDs. Additionally, the BD-HP20U is compatible with standard DVDs and is capable of upscaling them via HDMI to 1080p.

Aquos television owners will also be able to talk advantage of Aquos Link , which enables integrated operation between the Blu-ray disc player and an Aquos LCD TV. With the link feature, HDMI-connected products can be controlled through the AQUOS screen with a single TV remote. The remote also provides simultaneous Power On/Off, which allows the user to power on/off both the Blu-ray disc player and the TV together.

I would like to see a review on this player. The most popular feature on the Sharp BD-HP20U will be the quick start feature that loads a BLU-RAY disc in less then 10 seconds. Retail price on this player is $499.99. It has been verified that this product is in stock now from several Internet mail order distributors for around $400 and even under $400.
