Default Playing MKVs on LG BD370 Question

I have a few 1080p mkv's on my computer that I can't play because my computer just lags wayyyy too much. I want a blu ray player more than anything right now and just read the LG's BD370 has the ability to play MKVs.

This is very appealing to me but my question is can the player read mkvs off of a hard drive thats not FAT32 format? Mine is currently a Windows NT format. I formatted it that way so I could just download MKVs over 4gb straight to the external.

Any answers to the question would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks guys

I am not familiar with the LG, but most other BD-players only accept certain mkv-files. One example I read on these forums is that they may not exceed 4GB, another being that (Samsung) they can't contain the DivX-codec, but only the AVC-codec instead, and another one relating to Fat32/ntfs. So, before you buy, please do some more research on these forums (hopefully this topic), on the manual, and maybe even with Tech-support. Anyway, sorry I can't be of more help, but Good Luck! (please let us know your experiences)

Happy owner of this player for almost a year (still have PS3 in reserve, though). LG BD370 plays ANY GODDAMN FORMAT in Galaxy. I have at least 80 mkvs, some in 720p, some in 1080p. But all are bigger than 4 gb, and 1080p's are usually burned on DL, about 7.5 GB of simple data.
Be4 i used to convert them to AVCHD with RipBoot or mkv2vob, but now all i need is burn them as data.
And it reads any form of subtitle.
And BD PQ is awesome.
And today price under 99$ is a theft.
Of course, i U need wireless, then go for BD 390.

unfortunately, it recognizes only FAT portion of external hdd. but why is problem to burn movies on cheap dvd media? for 720p SL (if not too long movie), for 1080p DL.
for sub 40'' tv 720p is quite enough, though.

Good to hear, I am thinking about getting one of these. What audio formats can this thing handle in MKV... AC3, DTS... FLAC hopefully.

Default h264 playback BD370 grainy

I have this BD370. Awesome player, downloaded couple HD mkvs and the h264 played like grainy. I went to LG's website and downloaded the firmware as per their website and i updated the software as per instructions. This update contains fix for grainy h264 playback. Was resolved and played 100% now.

USB movie playback also works (I am located in Southern Africa).
Still fat32 and max 4gb file size unfortunately.

I use the USB 98% of the time. SO if you have h264 grainy vid, update the firmware, please just read the intructions on LG's website. br
