Wow....Bunuel on Blu-ray. This isn't my favorite Bunuel film but definately a "must-own" in high-definition!

The French discs will be out shortly, so perhaps they would offer Italian subs.

Has anyone with a PS3 tried the "workaround" of hitting Top Menu when playback is stopped? I read this in the "note" on bluray.liesinc and was wondering if it allows region a playback for this title? Thanks for any info or assistance in advance.

unfortunately that trick doesn't work with the PS3 as far as I know.
it really is unfortunate that this is locked.
I watched it this morning, and it was amazing to see in hd.
what a great film.

I accused this BD of having a bit of jittery movement in another thread, and I just stopped by there to correct it, so I thought I'd include my nice complement in this thread, so everyone knows there's absolutely nothing wrong with it.

EDIT: Belle de Jour plays like a dream and is an absolutely divine blu ray; I have a Samsung Plasma, and I didn't have the "cinema smooth" setting enabled under "film mode," so it wasn't actually displaying 24fps at 24fps! Maddening!

I realize that you are comparing the Australian edition to a inflated price in Euros, but in general between the UK and Australia, your statement isn't true for the USA anymore. The Oz Dollar is now pretty close in value to the American Dollar and Belle de jour is currently AU $32.98 + AU $8.10 freight, or US $36.89 altogether. At Amazon UK, the same title will cost me US $27.87 total and arrive within ten working days.

Plus, the StudioCanal line are JB HiFi exclusives, and my last order placed on 30 November took about 3 1/2 weeks to arrive at my door in the U.S.

Plus, if I can choose between the UK and AUS ratings logos, I'd prefer to go with the small red BBFC '18' certificate as opposed to the huge blue and white 'M' OFLC certificate.

I ordered this for £5.51.Pretty good price if you ask me.
I have yet to see the film but Ebert said it's similar to Eyes Wide Shut, which i loved so hopefully it's good.

The spanish Paramount BD seems to have italian subs, so I'd like to know if that release is comparable to the Studio Canal when it comes to PQ.

This is high on my watchlist so just picked it up from ebay for £8. Got this version over the 50th anniversary version solely because of the reviews on this site. So I'm hoping they're accurate.

What is the difference other than the following:

1) "Story of a Film" documentary (29:23) - NOT on the 50th Anniversary Edition
2) Interview with Jean-Claude Carriere (15:21) - ONLY on the 50th Anniversary Edition
3) "Masterclass With Diego Bunuel and Jean-Claude Carriere" documentary (57:36) - ONLY on the 50th Anniversary Edition

and the fact that BOTH releases have a different cinema trailer.
