Do you know the reason for no "Let It Be"? maybe because there was lot of tension at that peroid of their career I guess (Paul snapping at George, etc.), that's the only thing I can think of.

That's exactly it. They don't want this film re-released again, because of the way it depicts them at a very stressful and unhappy point in their career. It essentially chronicles the beginnings of their breakup.

I honestly don't see an authorized releases of Let it Be ever coming out on home video again.

I do however see the other Beatles films getting a blu release...eventually. I'm very surprised that Yellow Submarine did'nt get a 40th Ann. release!

I'm not, considering it's a 41 year-old film.

It got a release back in the late 90s on DVD. That's the last we've heard of it on home video, unfortunately...It's been out of print for nearly a decade, now.

I would also love to see Paul MacCartney and Wings " Rock Show" from the 1976 Wings Over America Tour. The complete show......

It's not so much "old grudges" as legal entanglements (some dating back to Paul McCartney vs. Phil Spector).

To paraphrase The Rutles, "LIB was originally released as a film, an album, and a lawsuit."

I'm guessing MGM back-burnered it further down their catalog, thanks to that little fan-tantrum on its first release during the ratio-paranoid birth-of-DVD days ("Wow, we're going to do a real class-action suit, that'll show 'em!"...Uh-huh, thanks loads, guys. )

But it's a pretty safe guess that we'll get something to prime the pump by the time Robert Zemeckis is ready with......whatever the heck Bob Z. is doing with it at the moment.
(And given the current "Christmas Carol" trailer, we can expect at least three roller-coasters in the new remake, and at least one scene of a Blue Meanie falling into a pile of manure.)

Totally agree with you here Elvis... This was a great concert, I wore out the old VHS from watching it so much. Unfortunately for us it seems that Paul is almost ashamed of the Wings era music... Which is really too bad, considering that this is maybe one of the best concerts captured on film IMO. For the time being we'll just have to enjoy what they have on The McCartney years.

Probably not so much the music as his 70s era poodle haircut.

Wow--didn't realize that the DVD of 'Yellow Submarine' has been out of print for so long. Just checked on Amazon, and used copies seem to be abundant, but they start in the $30 range. I guess I should hang on to my copy!!!

The Brazilian blu-ray is Region A-B-C, as opposed to the Canadian disc, which is Region A only.

Audio is DTS-HD 5.1 & DD 5.1, plus subtitles in English and Portuguese.

I agree. The Space Within US sucks. Rockshow would be great. And the She Stadium Concert, Good Eveing New Yory City. Paul has 2 seperate packages for this title so you would think there would be a Blu-ray release as well?

I have AHDN and HELP! on DVD and the transfer are good.

I was watching this disc the other day and noticed that the songs are reproduced in a slower speed than they were originally recorded and released on the official CDs.

That's because the film exposing speed in the camera was increased from 24fps to 25fps to synchornize with the PAL/50Hz TV monitors in the sequences shot in the TV Studio. (Otherwise you'd see severe banding on the TV monitors). So when those sequences are played at theatrical movie speed (24fps) those particular songs (and corresponding image) are a little slower.

If you saw them on a PAL DVD transfered at 25/50Hz, those TV studio songs would be at correct speed, and the other, non-synching ones, on the rest of the movie, would have PAL 24->25 speed up.

Does that mean that it's not possible to release the movie at the correct speed from beginning to end?

I don't understand why they don't want it seen again, as if not releasing it will make everything think that they just had one of these happy parting as best friend breakups. I think a lot of it is because Sir Paul has crafted this "lovable good guy" image especially in later years and footage of him being an egomaniac on camera bossing George Harrison around will reflect bad on him... but we know it exists. If it was good enough to release on VHS and laserdisc in the 80's, why not release it now.

I also would like to see Help on Blu.

If The Beatles had the rights to this film, I'm sure we would have true 5.1 surround mixes, as the songs were recorded on multitrack tape. I bet the picture would be improved as well.

Magical Mystery Tour will soon be available on blu-ray, and apparently it's a great audio/video presentation, just like Yellow Submarine, which was released a couple of months ago. If AHDN (and the other films) are ever officially released by Apple/EMI, I'm sure they will be excellent as well.

Miramax has the rights to A HARD DAY'S NIGHT in the US, unless that has changed. Apple/EMI never had the rights, as far as I know. They only had the later films.

This was the very first film released in the DVD format, I hope that they will also give justice to the Region A Blu-ray release
