Default sony blu-ray player woes

Just purchased the new Sony 400 disc blu-ray/dvd changer. I am running a Pioneer Kuro projector pro-fpj1. It is an excellent unit as I have been using it with both a Pioneer Blu-ray player and a 400 disc Sony dvd player. When I plug the Hdmi from the new Sony into my Pioneer Receiver, I cannot get the picture to a full screen. I have tried plugging the projector directly into the Sony; still the screwed up picture. I then tried it on a 20" vizio I had and the picture was full 16X9. Anybody out there have any ideas.

Receiver model? Connection types BD <--> Reciever; Receiver <--> Display?

Edit: Did you use a different HDMI input on your display when you went direct?

Default models and connections

Pioneer pro-fpj1 projector
Bdp-cx960 BD/DVD changer
Pioneer SC-05 Receiver
Pioneer bdp-150 works full pic
direct-tv HD-dvr works full pic
Sony Dvp-cx995 dvd changer works full pic

Going backwards:

projector to receiver hdmi

receiver to all input devices: HDMI
same cables used throughout.

On the single disc Sony players, there is a menu selection that allows you to choose the output format. If this is also on the 400 disc player, it's probably stuck in the wrong mode.

It may autosense the video output unit, and just be reading the Pioneer projector wrong. Force it to 16x9 output, if it's not already there.

Default outputs

Good idea. Unfortunately I have flipped everything to both wrongs and rights with still no results. My next step is to borrow another sony blu-ray player and see if it behaves any differently. That way I can verify which part of the system is causing me the headaches.

Since the player displayed correctly on the Vizio, have you checked the settings on the projector?

Default success

You were correct. For some reason or another the new player had kicked the projector to 4X3. Thanks for all of the help.

Good news, for some very good gear. Glad it's working!
