Will Smith!! Seven Pounds!!! Greatness!!

Wow I watched this film earlier and man what can I say..........We are witnessing one of the greats of our time! Everytime I watch this man act it moves me. Not many actors can do that. I know there are people on both side of the fences when it comes to actors but how can u really say this man cannot act, or that he isnt a great actor? I know he doesnt have the resume as greats like Denzel, Deniro, Pacino, Freeman etc.... but at his age and stage of his career, he is well on pace with those guys and will be considered one of the best of alltime when he reaches those previous actors mentioned age and movie count! I look forward to every film he is in! He is one of the few actors where if the movie is just dialogue, that is perfectly fine with me! I was blown away yet again! I hope people recognize what they are seeing! Got Em!!

the movie is not great at all 'according to me at least) but i think will is for the least a good actor, i d say it is pretty obvious, i wouldn t go personally to the theater watching him in i am legned if he hardly could play...

OP I saw the movie and thought it was a great one, and I loved the story line. However, I don't think Will Smith Deserves to be up there Deniro, Pacino, and the rest you mentioned. Still I think Smith is an entreating actor and I like his movies.

I agree Czar, Seven Pounds was a good movie. And I love Will Smith, I do think he's a pretty good actor, but not quite "great". He's one of the better ones out there though, and I look forward to all of his coming movies

I wouldn't call Will Smith a great actor by any means, but he is ok. If you like him that's fine. I had always heard this movie was a snooze fest and from the previews I've seen I'm inclined to agree. Glad you enjoyed it though.

I'll never understand how anyone would argue that Pacino is a good actor, he once was okay in my opinion, but now is simply over the top and an all round terrible actor. I would put Smith above Pacino, though I don't think Smith is all that terrific either (he's not bad, just not among the best curently working).

I have meant to see 7 pounds though, i'll probably rent it in the next few weeks.

I thought Seven Pounds was the worst movie I had seen in theatres since Ultraviolet. It was boring, and overly dramatized. Smith is a good actor, but the problem is he picked this role purely for Oscar bait and it was a huge backfire. The critics panned it almost universally also. I respect your opinion. But in my opinion this movie was ludicrous oscar bait and an epic failure. Smith can become one of our greatest actors, but right now most of the roles he has chose with the only exception being Seven Pounds (which is awful in my opinion) and Pursuit of Happyness (a better film although uneven at times), are cariacatures for the most part.

EXCELLENT post. I couldn't agree more. I like Will Smith a great deal, but this film was colossally bad for the reasons listed here. Just horrendous.
