Best receiver for under $800 - Blu-ray Forum

I was looking at either denon or onkyo. Please help the newb. Also was thinking about going with a 7.2 cuz I love bass. Any thoughts?

There are lots of good choices in your price range. Also be sure to look into Marantz, Pioneer/Pioneer Elite, and Yamaha. Don't get hung up on a receiver having that extra subwoofer connection. The exact same information goes to each sub, and all you need to get the exact same results with any receiver with only one subwoofer connection is a $3 Y-splitter.

I would say go listen to Marantz, Denon, Pioneer Elite, Sony ES. I enjoy each of these and think that they could all meet your needs. But if it were me I would go with the Marantz 5004.
