Default Help me set up a HALLOWEEN prank

Howdy all.
So my 16 year old brother-in-law is hosting a Halloween party in his HUGE basement. It will be filled with teenage punks from his school and church. I have the OK from my mother-in-law to scare them silly.
You guys are pretty out there so I figure you can give me some great (safe) ideas. Like I said, this basment is HUGE with windows all around. I figure when it gets dark I can peer in the windows from outside with a creepy mask and stuff but I want to go further than that. I want this to be memorable!

Any ideas?

If they're going to be doing anything they shouldn't be doing (like drinking) then dress up as a cop. That will scare them more than anything.

If it's just a fun party for teens, I would fake an injury with lots of fake blood, and pound on the windows asking for help, saying you've been shot or stabbed or something. Then try to get them to help you inside, say some crap about not calling the police, because the guy said he'd kill your or something. Then have a friend show up as that guy and bang on the windows.

Or you can try to steal an idea from Scare Tactics, like wearing a big foot costume, and banging on windows.

OMG that's awesome!!! Thing is most of the teens know what I look like. But I can get a buddy of mine to do that. I LOVE IT! Keep 'em coming!

This is an innocent teen Halloween party with no booze. I do, however, feel like I should make someone cry (or close to it). LOL!

Sneak someone in to hand out vitamin C pills and have them think it's ecstasy. When they think they are getting high have someone dressed as a cop show up.

i like the cop idea so far, i mean any other costume on Holloween really shouldn't scare anyone. id try and find a flashing red light for the car get some flash lights, shine them in the windows and bang on the door.

Thing is...this house is in an upscale neighborhood. There are 2 cops that live on his street. Hmmm...

Cut the power, and walk down to the Basement dressed as Michael Meyers and scare the hell out of them.

This was my original idea. I just wish I can do something even more horrific.

what about using some visual effect. Dressing as meyers may give it away as a halloween scare. What if you just cut the power and walk down as yourself holding a knife in one hand and the other hand should have flesh (cow, sheep whatever) and just cover the hell of yourself in blood. Make them think you just went nuts.

PS. Just make sure they don't have a weapon or something down there, I don't want to hear that you got hurt pulling this off.

You should do something like in [REC]. Put some drums in the basement ahead of time and put a liquid in them and make it look like it's leaking. then show up with some other people in haz mat suits and tell every one the house is contaminated and under quarantine and nobody can leave then start putting up yellow tape. to really give it some effect have some guys dressed as soldiers outside with guns and gas masks. they would be freaking.

Act ask a cop saying someone called in a noise complaint.. then start giving them drinking tests. Impossible ones like whats the square root of 1204 or something.

Have some buddies with you and the cop lights outside, will be funny as hell.

But if you want to be mean, put some tear gas in there. Storm in as swat saying its a drug bust. Just be prepared to clean up poopoo after they crap themselves.

I did something like this once, but it took some time and people I trust to pull it off.

A friend of mine was having a Halloween party at his parents place, and invited everybody. I got with his parents ahead of time, and asked them if I could do something fun. They thought it would be hilarious to scare their son and agreed. So we got a large chest, and put it behind the couch and covered it with a picnic cloth. about two hours before the party started, his parents snuck me through the back door, and I got into the chest with an old white bedsheet that I soaked in fake blood and a flashlight. The parents closed me in, and covered the chest back up with the picnic cloth. Once the party started, I used my cellphone to text his parents when they thought it would be dark enough outside, and everything had started to reach its peak. The entire time, I kept hearing really funny conversations, like "where is Jarod?" "I thought he was going to be here." Finally his parents gave me the signal, and cut the power. I waited for another couple of minutes, while listening to everybody freak out and then begin wondering what happened. Finally I jumped out of the chest with the flash light on and the bloody bedsheet wrapped around me screaming at the top of my lungs. Half the room fell to the floor, and the other half ran out of the room faster than I had ever seen them run. Parents and I never laughed so hard in our lives. After it finally dwindled down, some people commented on how good it was, while others I thought were going to knock me out .

Great prank, but you have to be committed as you will be in a closed area for a while. But very worth it.

Rig a speaker and play a sound of someone being electrocuted and then cut the power as you play it...the sound follwed by darkeness will make everyone think someone got zapped.

If you can have a buddy hang down there (hiding or in cognito) and be able to give him some burn marks (charcoal dust) and crazy stand-up hair along with a heavy duty electrical wire (not connected but leading to somewhere not easily able to be traced) and even a bit of water on the floor (if it is a solid surface) it will be great to hear the screams when the power goes out and then the screams when the power comes back on and people see your buddy looking like he just bought it via electrocution.

If you have access to a projector - this could get some of them if you can find a way to kill the lights and still have power to a projector displaying this on a sheet or on a window with a frosted shower curtain
