Default High-Def FAQ: What's the Big Deal About 1080p24?

This article was a pretty good read and it helps explain the differences between 1080p24 and 1080p60.

My eyes glaze over anything by Mr. Zyber. I'm glad you found it enlightening.

Let me sum up: 24P - 24 frames per second, original film speed. 60P - 24 frames per second converted to 60 FPS instead, by inserting duplicate frames using a pre-determined pattern. The result is that 60P has judder during pans and the like. By outputting 24P directly you bypass that process and thus eliminate the judder - provided the display properly supports it. Clear as mud?
