Been using MS based software since DOS 6.2. I miss DOS. Went through Windows 3.1, then 3.11 for Workgroups, then 95, then 2000, then XP, now using Vista at home soon upgrading to Win 7.
My wife had a MacBook but after a year her laptop was obsolete and she went back to PC. CS4 is insane on our new desktop. 64-bit accelerated ftw. My laptop is ok but I want one a bit better. I might switch it over to Win 7 not sure yet. I like the way it is setup. My brother is going to teach me how to use Linux properly. Should be fun! |

I remember details of my Windows usage as far back as early nineties and 3.1; everything before that is too hazy. I vaguely remember my grandpa's IBM station in the 1980s with a monochromatic monitor where you'd load 5 ¼" floppies to do work. I don't remember what the work was, though. That was way back in the day!
Currently still using XP Pro on all my PCs in my house, but am not a Vista hater. I still haven't gotten to try out Windows 7. Yes, I use both PC and Mac — so I can contribute to both threads...unless you post a rule saying "no crossies." |

My first PC was Windows 95, and I've used pretty much every OS designed for home use since. 95 and 98 were great.... as long as you formatted and did a clean install fairly regularly. ME was a gigantic steaming turd, and even a fresh install could give you enough troubles to make you want to pull your hair out. XP was a huge improvement, but still needed to be wiped and re-installed every so often to maintain optimal speeds. Vista..... aside from all the trash people heaped upon it about UAC... was an incredibly stable OS that maintained it's core extremely well. I used it from the day it came out and never lost speed or felt it needed a re-install. Just installed 7 this weekend, and like it's features more than Vista. I just hope it will be every bit as stable as Vista (I see no reason why it won't.)

I think the funniest thing was when I was in middle school was that my desktop at the time was pretty top of the line 486 66mHz and we would dream about one day owning a 500mHz computer.
LOL I'm really impressed by my current system and can't wait for Win 7!! |

Note: I said "easily." I know you can do it on Macs...but we all know it's at least a little harder on a Mac, generally speaking. |

Been on PC since Dos 3 I think... Went though all Windoze versions. Bakc in the day I liked NT thebest frmthe bunch, although 3.11 for workgroups was pretty cool for its time.
Still on Xp, skipped vista almost entirely, one comp has it because Dell supplied with the box. Going Win7 next weekend or next next... Whenever I have a day to upgrade everything. Well, that and i do like building my comps. Main rig and NAS are built, and optimized for their purposes. |

Although the bulk of my computer experience is based on the x86 architecture, the first PC I ever used was an Apple Macintosh (technically, it is a PC because it is a personal computer. Apple devotees may disagree, but they would be wrong
![]() I remember the days of DOS quite fondly, but less so with IBM OS/2. No experience with Windows ME, which is actually a good thing (to date, the only Microsoft OS I have never used). I abhor / detest / hate / loathe / reject / snub everything Vista (based on hands-on experience, though the copy I bought during CompUSA's closing remains sealed to this day). Ironically, I enjoyed the beta test for Windows 7, so much so that I pre-ordered an upgrade copy of 7 Pro (arrived yesterday, but the installation won't occur till this weekend; I will still keep XP Pro as part of a multi-boot configuration, even though my PC can support XP Mode). |

Anyone playing any good games? I keep going back to Plants vs. Zombies. I got 18 flags on endless survival and can't remember what I used to get that far! I'm going to try again. I think I need to use more frozen watermelons.
I also started Puzzle Quest Galactrix. Awesome so far. Blows the original Puzzle Quest away. |
