I may never use it, but I just keep the DVD.
I don't really see it as kosher to the studio-enduser implied agreement to do otherwise.

That said, when I'm replacing discs - particularly Disney stuff, I tend to hand the old version down to my neice and nephew. It's easier and nicer than getting a pittance at the used store.

If the blu-ray comes with a dvd, I just keep it with it. However, if I buy a blu-ray and I already have the dvd, I will sell that to someone at work. I usually sell them for around $5 or so just to dump them.

I give them to my niece. She just got married and her budget is tight so it provides some entertainment for her and her new husband.

I've also given her a number of DVD's I replaced with BD.

I split the purchase with a friend if their is a Blu-ray/DVD combo one of them is interested in.

I did it for Wolverine, they paid $10 and I paid $17. I kept the Blu and digital copy and they took the DVD.

Was going to do that for Star Trek but Walmart took down the mention of the DVD included.

And I'm probably going to do it for Night at the Museum 2. We'll each pay about $10 since its $20.99 on amazon right now.

If I'm replacing a dvd with a blu I give the dvd away, and I've given two or three digital copies away.

I'm building up my Disney BD catalog so all the DVDs I get I plan to give to my neice in a nice custom set. She'll be 6 this December so it's a good time to get her into some of these movies.

I would, and should...but do they actually make any money if I were to sell them on ebay without a case?

I always keep the DVDs and/or the Digital Copies in case i want to sell the title in the future. People like to get the complete package most of the time.

don't they always say "not for resale?"

i haven't bothered to look at them, considered it but felt it wouldn't really be worth it

As with any kid's movie like Ice Age 3 that I got today which comes with the DVD version, the DVD goes to my wife's car and my kid watches it over and over. For other movies, the DVD stays in the case untouched.

haha! So?
Even gamestop and used shops sell "not for resale" copies of movies and games...and they're corporate.

I gave away the DVD that came with Sleeping Beauty but I sort of regret that now.

I will most likely never use any of the DVDs that come with the Blu Rays but they came with it so I like to keep them with it.

I keep mine as well. I work at a fire station for 24 hours at a time, so there is some occasional movie watching going on there. However, I'm sure it'll be a long, long, long, long, long, time before we ever have a blu-ray setup at the fire station so it's handy to have that DVD version.
