Default Escape From New York Sound Issues

Can anyone help?

I recently purchased Escape From New York from Amazon UK. The PQ is terrible, but that's not the problem. The audio contains no dialogue whatsoever. The background music is there, and some of the effects, but no dialogue.

Amazon sent me a replacement and it has the same issue. I tried the DTS track and the regular Dolby track and neither have dialogue. The director's commentary does work. I have never had anything like this happen before.

I am using a Panasonic BD35 with the latest firmware.

Any suggestions?

It sounds like it's either an issue with your center channel speaker or the receiver, and not the disc.

Do other discs play OK through all speakers?

Every other disc I own plays perfectly. The director's commentary works on this disc too, using the center channel.

That is very strange indeed. I own the movie and the audio is fine. It's region free so that should not be a problem.

I find it baffling too. All my other region free imports work fine. My 200+ discs all play without any problem. I googled to see if others have had the problem and couldn't find anything.

I'll probably just trade it in as long as it works for the retailer. It looks terrible anyway so I can live without it.

Thanks for the replies.

Wow, that's crazy. I have the film as well. No problems here. I know in the beginning they don't really talk very loud so it seems like nothing's there if you have the volume kind of low. If the volumes loud enough you can hear just fine though.

I traded in my UK copy for the German blu ray. Same PQ (print looks a little better) and slightly different audio DTS HD HR as opposed to DTS HD MA. Plus there's the second commentary from Joe Alves and the late Debra Hill that was on the original MGM DVD.

sucks about your audio problem, but i agree that it probabaly has to do with your equipment, not the disc.

My question is when is this coming to north america?

And what ever happend to escape from LA, wasn't it supposed to come out a few months ago?
