The GI Joe DVD Steelbook

Okay, so I bought the GI Joe steelbook today when I went into Wal-Mart.

It has DVD packaging, DVD logo on the spine, and everything says DVD.

It's a Blu-Ray.

I don't know why it's a BD, I have no clue why they would market it in a DVD steelbook, but whatever the case, it's Blu. I had no clue, and I don't really care, but it's just so weird.

I know some people are going to be really pissed that it's not a DVD, and I didn't even notice till I just happened to be looking at the disc.

Anyone else have this?

Interesting, I stopped by a Wal-Mart Supercentre today but they told me that they didn't even get their shipments because there was a problem with the 2 disc version of the DVD (steelbook version). The associate mumbled something about a notice that the movie is not playing properly. This is probably why and so they never got their shipment.

EDIT: a buddy of mine just told me he saw a shelf of them this morning and was debating to pick one up but decided not to. I told him to visit the store again before it closed at midnight and all the steelbooks copies were gone - associate said that he was not even aware of any steelbook copy. Looks like they have all been removed.

As you can see, DVD Packaging, but yet it's a Blu-Ray disc.

I was confused as hell when I got home, but I've got a BD Player obviously so I didn't really care.

That looks exactly like the FYE/Suncoast Exclusive I was going to pick up tomorrow. I was in Wal-Mart earlier this evening but wasn't looking at DVDs. Wonder how Wal-Mart got this Steelbook as I checked Wal-Mart's site for Canada and US and didn't see it online.

Is this a glitch and someone messed up? It would be interesting if my FYE/Suncoast had a Blu-ray in it instead of a DVD copy.

I'll be checking some Wal-Marts tomorrow when I head up to get my DVD Steelbook and open mine to see what I get. If I get a Blu-ray out of this at Sucoast..sweet!

It's a beautiful Steel, by the way. It's a shame that another crappy movie got such an astonishing treatment. I'm somewhat glad it's not BD-sized.

Error it might be, but how do you prove a sealed copy has a BD disc inside? Or a opened copy, how do you prove that the person didnt jsut swap discs LOL

You can sell it as an error production at all.

The only way that works is if you picked up multiple copies.

Most people open their steelbooks anyway. See the poll results on
this forum.
