I do like the new Studio series with the new cabinet. It's a very substantial improvement over the last studio series.

It's not that I completely dislike the reference series... just that tweeter.. but I tend to notice with myself with a lot of metal tweeters.

I'd like to make a correction: not all MAVs are stand alone stores. The one and only MAV here in Chicago is attached to a BB. But BB carrying Paradigm in the near future is does not come as a surprise to me.

Jason: I did see it in MAV catalog that they were carrying Monitor Audios at one point. I'm not so sure if they still do.

That's probably one of the "Design Studios"... it was Best Buy's attempt to have kind of a stand alone store in larger metropolitan areas... they had one in Atlanta too till it went belly up.

well that sucks that they're only going to be at Magnolia stores, cause my BB doesnt have one. we have a stupid guitar center though, yay. I miss sound advice. Their prices were comical but they had a ton of nice stuff and very nice listening rooms.

It is a sad day indeed when a respected brand such as Paradigm can be found at a best buy. The a/v industry is going down the toilet...

As far as the cabinet design, I think Paradigm could approve it across the board. Are they the only manufacturer I have a problem with that though? No..most, if not all, need an update. I hate the feeling of a slapped on fake veneer, which will be what you will find with most. I particularly liked the beryllium tweeter. I have seen issues with manufacturers and metal tweeters, I think MA an Paradigm have done it right though.

I wouldn't complain if Best Buy did carry a few more higher end brands.

But only if they did have a Seperate Audition Room. Our local Best Buy doesn't.

But There are also several Hi End Audio Stores in the same area.So Best Buy will have to do something special to take Business away from these types of stores.

The Nicer Brands wont do that. They will need some in store specialists with dedicated Audition Rooms even more in depth and dedicated then the Magnolia Room Best Buys.

But I would welcome the oppertunity to look over some speakers like that if I walked in to grab a Blu-Ray or something similar.

Yes, it's this whole technical thing that they get into but design studios are the MAV's best buy created after taking over Magnolia Hi-Fi and Magnolia Audio/Video are the original stores on the West Coast.. but it's really not worth the technicalities because Best Try is asinine.

Time to sell my Monitor 9's and move to another brand. Selling Paradigm at Best Buy is only going to devalue the brand, and also bring down the value of the speakers. They won't retain any value.

If Best Buy is going to sell high-end speakers, they need to install them correctly in their Magnolia rooms. They don't have the speakers properly set up. All speakers are in a small room along the walls. What good is this? They need bigger show rooms with the speakers all on one wall, and a couch 10ft away. Not some stupid little bitty room.

Paradigm (and many other manufacturers) must be hard up for cash...... offering even a portion of their line in Best-Buy stores will certainly increase their sales, but it will also devalue the line, as others have stated.

This seems to be a reaction to the down turn in the economy perhaps.....I do not see any other reason why Paradigm would agree to this......

hence why I said Best Buy will prostitute the speaker. Best doesn't sell anything, they clerk it and degrade all they sell with the exception of the companies that make the UMRP agreement which dictates that Best Buy cannot discount the price and that all retailers with the product will sell it at the same price.

How will it devalue their line????? Can I say that about McIntosch....Now Harmon Itl....If they carry Sonus Faber like said in another post ....Then they could carry Classe ( Same parent company) and whoever says Paridigm is mid fi perhaps your right but Its better than what alot of people have in this forum.....

(Dont know if you guys remember the last thread about BB carrying onkyo and one guy said he's selling his speakers if they start carrying them)

I understand why some wouldn't want a commercial retailer like BB selling their favorite speaker, but come on.
I will now be selling my Monitor 7s and find new speakers to use as rears

I don't really see this as being an advantage to consumers other than they are now at place where a lot of people shop. Any time I browse the MHT within the BB near me all the speakers are listed at msrp, and I've never seen a sale. Not sure if BB allows haggling or anything like that, I've never tried, but I'd rather buy them from a local place where I know the dealer can make a deal.

Paradigm isn't necessarily "high-end" but they do have value. I would saddened to see the brand of speaker be put in a place that would degrade them. Best Buy or Best Try as I like to call it would just prostitute Paradigm like they do with all audio gear.
well their so called "Lo-end" aint too bad Ill take the McIntosh over your Arcam anyday ,, also Ill take Sonus Faber Cremona over the Vienna Acoustics Any day ,,And the rest of what you have is BB stuff ...so how has or will BB Prostitute these HI-END ( Compaired to what you own) Product lines.....
McIntosh as already prostituted themselvs when they sold years ago , but hey all Hi-End A/V companies are being bought all the time ,, Its a tough market and Im shure thats why Paridigm went with BB ...

I wonder what other High end companies will be sold there. Too bad they don't have any stores in Canada.

I know a store(A&B Sound) similar to BestBuy in Western Canada(just nost as big) but they sold some pretty good stuff including Totem Speakers. The Totems were I guess their higher end offering - that and the Energy Veritas but everything else they sold was pretty much same stuff that Best Buy or Futureshop had. Too bad A&B shut down since now that I heard some Totems it would be good if it was that easy to find a place that sold them.

If/when Paradigm does start selling stuff at BB and if they do get real popular I just hope they the keep the quality build with everything still done in house.

If they do it and their products do lose value I wonder how that would affect Canadian prices with Magnolia only in the U.S. They are still the only speakers that are sold near me unless I drive 3 hours out. I don't think it's a bad move though especially since the op mentioned their will be other higher end stuff that will be sold - it just gives people easier access to different gear..
