I thought this was a good article. I thought it dispelled many myths and was pretty candid. I also thought it reiterated a lot of what many here have been trying to state for a while now--looking past the fanboyism--which is that MPEG2 is not the source of all evils in transfers.

Anyhow, I enjoyed reading this article.

Things sure are looking good for Blu-ray in the coming weeks.

Good read. Good to hear from an insider that doesn't have to spread a bunch of FUD.

For me, it looks that both Amir and Don have tried to spread misinformation

Also read the quote on how typing 7669 into your Blu-ray player brings out a series of test patterns.

Yeah, I'm hoping that someone will post what those patterns look like.

I found Sony's statements about bit-rate meters in future players to be interesting. I wonder if they will include this capability in the PS3. Bit-rate is certainly a number that enthusiasts will be interested in. I find it fascinating that some of the MPEG-2 encodes are at lower rates than those with VC-1.

I think the key there is 'some' and really if you pick your examples you could show this. I would bet though that for 'most' this is not the case.

Yep we like our MPEG2 and the truth. I am glad the highdefdigest, who usaully likes to bash BD and rave about HD, is now choking on his shoe laces from sticking his foot in his mouth. Personally I loved that VC-1 rumor. Shows how some people on the internet love to gossip like little old ladies. I still stand behind my statment of VC-1 being evil. Tipical M$ stuff were they bypass laws and patients with loop holes. Rember a long time ago when i posted about you guys talking about codecs and that is all that was being talked about. I rember saying that there was a reason for MPEG2 being used. Well I have to say it now. TOLD YOU SO!!!!! I feel better now. Great artical. I can't wait for them to master MPEG4.
